Let me start off by saying that I hate jogging to keep in shape. I will happily sprint around an Ultimate (Frisbee) field for hours, but I can't stand going for a run. When I started medical school and did not have time to play pick-up games, I got out of shape. With the club season for Ultimate on the horizon, I needed to get back on my game. I thought that in order to develop the speed, agility, and endurance I needed on the field, I would have to eventually do some running exercises. So I joined the gym in hopes that I could work out on my own time and have enough equipment to not get bored. But it was too overwhelming. I did not know how to structure a workout to fit my needs and did not have enough experience with the equipment to ensure proper form. Luckily, a guy at the gym recommended that I try a personal training package with Berley. Even though he has never played Ultimate, he knew exactly what I needed. Each session was unique, but challenging. Sometimes I came in slightly sore from the previous session, but he would have a workout that focused on using my muscles in a completely different way. Berley was great at recognizing when I could push myself further and when I needed a break. Even though the workouts were intense, I always felt really good about myself when I left. The best part: Berley never made me do any running :) Aside from feeling good at the gym, the results have been very noticeable on the field. I am able to sprint a lot faster than I ever had before. My endurance is better. I can jump higher. I am able to change directions more quickly. It feels good to be able to sprint equally hard when switching between defense and offense on a long point. It feels good to stay on the field for many consecutive points before feeling tired. It feels great to keep up with some of the best ladies in town and leave a lot of other people in the dust. And when I'm feeling tired on the field, I think of my sessions with Berley and tell myself that I have a lot more in me. Berley was an amazing and inspiring trainer. He helped me find strength that I didn't know I had and renewed my passion for fitness. I am sad he left Portland, but I feel lucky that I got a chance to train with him.

Berley is an amazing trainer and person. He trained me at Crunch in Beaverton, Oregon. My training consisted of what we spoke about in the initial hiring of his services. I have some pain inside my body that doctors can't figure out. In reference to this Berley put together routines for me to train in helping to build strength in my body. Berley is very open to what I was wanting to do as far as getting in shape and living healthier. He also would advise in supplements that may help in what my goals were. He really pushes you to the limit that he knows your capable so that to me is what I want and need in a personal trainer. I recommend him to any one that wants to get fit, build strength and stay healthy.

Berley was a great trainer. His well-rounded approach really set my life up in a more manageable and energetic way. I had given him access to data including sleep, nutrition, and on/off active periods during a day. Berley was able to take this data and help me kick unhealthy habbits, focus on strengtth gaining, hone in on technique and toning, and increase my general wellness with 1 on 1 talks about food, work, sleep, and down time habbits.

Berley is an excellent, knowledgeable trainer. He doesn't just count reps and day dream, he actively watches, corrects and motivates. He also takes the time to explain the "why" of everything he asks you to do. Berley also internalizes your fitness successes as his own success. In short his goals are aligned with yours. I can't recommend him enough.
