Got quoted on Thumbtack for 4 individual bedrooms for $65 total. I called carpet cleaners to ask more information and see what that price included. I asked about sqft and carpet cleaners was unable to give me a better estimate and they said they have to honor thumbtack and may increase by a little (could be $90 total) due to closet space when I described the place over the phone with Ana. I was very happy with the quote and called and talked to carpet cleaners twice to make sure how much of a difference it could increase to. When they came to perform the service, before they started it ended up being $170ish total with tax. More than double the quote and technically $65 was only for less than 500sqft!!!! I was very disappointed because I could have calculated or known before if they told me $65 was for that much sqft which is ridiculous. Anyways I had to get it done bc I was moving in the next day and didn't needed things delayed. Regardless the technician was great and did a wonderful job. I thought I did enough research but it wasn't good enough to be charged that much I feel. Still giving them high star rating because work was good

I highly recommend Scott and his crew. I bought a home with a large expanse of carpeting (1500 sq feet). Scott spent a good deal of time before I even committed to the job educating me about the options I had for cleaning the carpet. When his crew member, Tim, showed up to do the job, he identified that the carpet was covered with pet urine from the previous owner. Although he said that he could spray it with Kilz to neturalize it, he said that it would be cost prohibitive to do so and recommended against it, rather than "taking me to the cleaners". He said that, in the long run, it would make more sense to clean it temporarily but then get it replaced, saving me the expense of doing pet cleaning which would have been really expensive and not effective.

Her communications with me kept me informed. When she arrived she quickly got to work cleaning every inch of the house. There was nothing that I asked her to do that she would not do. My house looks 1000% better and the price was very reasonable. The best part was her husband steam cleaned the carpets. That was truly a deal. They look brand new! Thank you for your services, you did a great job.

On-time, professional, thorough, courteous, and friendly service. My plumbing fixtures sparkle, shower stall is immaculate, stains in toilets due to salt are gone, and there is no more dust in my house. I signed up for monthly cleaning. This was my first house cleaning since purchasing the house 3 months ago, and there was a backlog of dirt left from before I purchased the house. Bianca identified some of the things that we need to deal with over time, such as grime on some of the window ledges, and suggested a plan for dealing with some of these items each month on a rotating basis. we also came up with a plan for dealing with celing fans.

I didn't select them because I waited too late to schedule the cleaners and needed it done really fast. They were very responsive and did all they could to help me out. After I didn't respond to the suggestion that I call their scheduling department, te person handling their online help must have taken the time to check in to tell me they could have an estimator out there next Wednesday which isn't bad. It just was my fault I held off too long. Very friendly folks and on the ball with responding quickly.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.

How much does it cost to clean an area rug?

Whether your pet had an accident, the party got too wild, or your kids can’t control their juice boxes — we all need rug cleaning from time to time. In fact, even if you don’t have a spill or spot, it’s wise to have your area rug cleaned approximately once a year to keep the rug fibers in good health. In general, rug cleaning prices depend on the square footage of the rug, what the rug is made of, whether any repairs are needed, and whether you require the pro to travel to your location or provide pickup and drop-off services. Nationally, average area rug cleaning prices range from $80 to $120.

Wool and silk area rugs typically cost more to clean than rugs made from synthetic fibers because the more delicate materials take more care and may require specialized cleaning fluids. For example, a synthetic rug may cost $1.50 per square foot to clean; a wool, cotton, or chiffon rug could be $2 per square foot; and a silk or Navajo wool rug could cost $3 per square foot. The two most common rug cleaning methods are steam and chemical cleaning. The costs for the two methods are often the same, although a steam-cleaned rug will take longer to dry due to the moisture. If your area rug needs odor removal, moth deterrent, or hand washing, there will be additional charges.
