Introduction: I’m one of the few people in Arizona who has a Bachelors Degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in political science (City University of New York). I have taught college classes across the social sciences in New York City, Boston, and Beijing, China. I have taught at charter schools in Tucson and Shenzhen, China. I wrote a memoir of my unique experience: “Threading The Needle”. Most gifted and talented individuals who grow up in poverty and attended school in the 1980s, especially in schools filled with drugs and violence, either succumbed or escaped. I escaped with a vision and hard work. I’m one of the few who returned to my home city to help other students escape the same risky environments.
