Introduction: I started my career in public relations, writing brochure copy, press releases, advertorial, ads, and newsletter articles. As I worked to promote events, products, and organizations, I began to understand how design complements marketing messages and became passionate about the visual aspects of communication. I returned to school to study graphic design, where I learned the theories and techniques behind successful visual communications. I combine my PR experience and my design experience to give clients more value for their marketing investment.

Jennifer is, hands down, one of the best designers I have had the privilege to work with. So much so, I find myself looking for opportunities to partner with her. She is beyond creative, client- (and deadline-) focused, and brings an astute awareness of the technical aspects of design to every project. Not only is Jennifer a talented and technically succinct designer, she is a true marketing communicator and a writer. She adeptly creates and analyzes messaging of each project as a whole to ensure brand consistency and clarity. Too bad there are only five stars to offer for a rating here!

Jennifer and I worked together on a branding refresh project for the Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona. Not only is she extremely talented in design, writing, and conceptual thinking, she is highly personable, easy to work with, and passionate about her projects!

I've worked with Jennifer for many years and have always been impressed by her creativity and zen-like approach to guiding the process to the best outcome. She recently made the process of designing a logo for our new business so easy, and we ended up with something we never would have thought of on our own. I will definitely hire Jennifer again in the future.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    1. Ask the Right Questions at the Interview When you’re ready to hire a freelance graphic designer or copywriter, look for one who can explain the rationale behind their work. As you peruse your creative prospect’s portfolio, ask why a piece looks or reads the way it does. You want a graphic designer that thinks about how the customer will interact with the end product and how the design enhances the organization’s brand. A good copywriter will explain how the tone and word choices fit the intended audience. 2. Plan Ahead Don’t wait until your staff is overwhelmed and overworked to bring in contract help. Most talented creative professionals will be eager to be a part of the conceptualization process and happy to contribute their knowledge, experience, and ideas to your project. A freelancer may be the breath of fresh air your team needs to see a new solution to a vexing problem. The added benefit of including your contract help early on is that he or she will understand your goals, challenges, and customers much better when it comes time to produce your brochure, website, direct mail campaign, or anything else you dream up.
