Bachelorette parties so often devolve into a fiesta of funny straws and poor decisions involving margaritas and mayhem. So how do you plan a proper celebration without leaving any stray bachelorette supporters hurling in the hydrangeas outside a tapas bar? You hire a private bartender and let her call the shots.
Recently, I planned a bachelorette party weekend for a close friend of mine who’s getting married in July. It was a getaway in Portland, Oregon, with friends flying in from all over the country – Baltimore, New York City, Denver, and San Francisco. We decided to make Friday night a welcome party at our Airbnb. To make it more festive – and tasty – I hired Joni, a bartender from Mint & Mirth.
Joni stood out from the other quotes as a perfect match for the party. Her photos looked like they belonged on the bride’s Pinterest board, and the cocktails listed on her website looked amazing.
We picked a couple of drinks together over the phone according to the bride’s tastes, and she showed up with additional drink options. She was knowledgeable about local spirits – and brought them to the party. We got to try local gin and bourbon, as well as some local shrubs. Joni fit right in and brought a local feel to the party – all the girls were really excited to have her there.
