Story by Lauren Roundtree, Traveling Dog Trainer
There’s nothing I find more rewarding than enriching the relationship between people and their dogs, so they can have a bond as deep as I have with my own dogs.
Linda, one of my recent clients, was a loving dog owner who needed education in communicating with her dogs so they would know what she expects. Her boxer mix, Toby, had grown to over 125 pounds and was too much to handle when squirrels were encountered on walks or when tenants came to pay rent at her condo leasing office. I worked with Linda, Toby, and her cattle dog mix, Jake, to give the dogs better manners and impulse control. By the end of our lessons, both dogs were noticeably calmer and very obedient – even in distracting environments.
Because I meet with clients in their homes, dog parks or, in Linda’s case, at her leasing office, I can customize my training to each client’s individual needs. In a review Linda said, “Now that I have her training, I can get rid of all the books offering a confusing array of advice. She works with you and your dog so you don’t have to guess at the correct way to train.”
Thumbtack has been an invaluable service for growing my business. Potential clients look at my reviews and get a flavor for what I offer and who I am. I really appreciate that Thumbtack has already done a lot of the ground work for me in determining a client’s location and training needs so that I can reply to a lead confident that I can help that person with their dog.
