Not all of us can hire a celebrity interior designer, but with Instagram, now we can follow some of the best to see what they’re working on, what inspires them, and, of course, what their photogenic pets are up to. Here are 11 of LA’s top interior designers who are worth an Instagram follow, many of whom you might recognize, plus a few who keep their celebrity clients on the DL.
Kelly Wearstler established her interior design firm over 20 years ago and in that time has become a celebrity in her own right (in part due to her design of some of Southern California’s sexiest hotels and in part due to her stint as a judge on Bravo TV’s “Top Design”). As her frequent Instagram pics reflect, she lives an exotic life and is not afraid of color, anything that’s oversized, or Hollywood glamour.
Michael S. Smith has been the White House decorator since 2008 and is probably best known for giving the Oval Office its 2010 makeover. His style is elegant, luxurious, and centers around the belief that everyone should live with the things they love. His Instagram photos are mostly of beautiful spaces and places anyone would love to go. And also his adorable dogs, of course.
If you want a sense of Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s design aesthetic, look no further than the fact that Cher and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne are amongst his many celebrity clients. Martyn loves colorful fabrics and dramatic spaces, as viewers saw when he was on Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Decorators.” His Instagram is full of inspirational rooms and architecture, and he’s also another one who likes to post pics of his pup.
If you’ve ever watched E! for more than a few minutes, you’ve seen Jeff Andrews’ work as his celebrity clients include Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Kourtney Kardashian. He has a real love of bold design, but also puts a lot of importance on function and a sense of home. His IG photos will definitely make you wish you had the money to move into a mansion… or at least turn a bedroom into a walk-in closet.
Jeffery Alan Marks has a fresh, timeless sensibility, and knows how to perfectly pair traditional style with edgy accents. And yes, he was also on “Million Dollar Decorators.” His clients include Amber Valletta and he also designed the Tavern restaurant in Brentwood. His Instagram is a good mix of personal photos, his adorable dog Coal, and current projects.
There’s no doubt that Jeff Lewis is best known for his Bravo TV show “Flipping Out.” But while flipping houses is one of his passions, the show has also shown us that he has a great eye for interior design. His Instagram is a fun mix of beautiful rooms, your favorite “Bravo-lebrities,” and photos of him next to people sleeping in public places.
Tamara’s interior design studio, House of Honey, creates incredibly imaginative spaces that are also easy to live in and she loves to add vintage pieces to the mix. Her Instagram is a fun mix of stunning scenery, selfies, and swoon-worthy style.
Kari Whitman has worked with celebrity clients like Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, and Don Johnson. She loves wallpaper, soft fabrics, and a single statement piece to get people talking. She’s also very passionate about rescuing dogs, which is clear from her Instagram, where you’ll also find pics of unusual spaces and quirky furniture.
Timothy Corrigan has offices in both L.A. and Paris and has worked with celebrity clients, European royalty, and corporate leaders, all of whom enjoy working with him because they can remain anonymous. He has a foundation in classical design and enjoys mixing pieces from different periods. His Instagram features photos from his travels, most of which focus on exquisite details.
Windsor Smith includes Gwyneth Paltrow as one of her many celebrity clients and is known for her use of color and texture, and the fact that she makes spaces both beautiful and functional. Her Instagram includes many close-up photos of small details as well as plenty of finished rooms.
