In anticipation of potential congressional action on tax reform, Thumbtack surveyed more than 2,600 pros across the country to better understand their views on the issue. A few highlights from the survey include:
- A majority of pros (59%) believe tax reform is somewhat or very likely to be enacted by the end of the year.
- Pros’ opinions on who will benefit from tax reform are split down partisan lines. Three out of four Republicans think it will be middle class families, whereas three out of four Democrats think wealthy Americans will be the primary focus.
- 28% of Democratic pros believe tax reform will actually hurt their businesses, while in comparison, only 5% of Republican pros feel similarly.
Similarly, while only 5% of Democrats believe that tax reform would positively impact their business, 42% of Republican believe that it would. Self-identified independents fall squarely in the middle, with 20% expecting tax reform to benefit their business.
