Whole Foods Market partnered with the Nature Conservancy for an awareness campaign to save the Colorado River. This River is part of everyone and everything here, from the farmers who supply our produce to the activities we love throughout the summer (rafting, fishing, etc). At Whole Foods, we wanted to raise awareness about the dangerously low water levels, that are only getting worse. To help support the Nature Conservancy’s project, we provide shoppers with education and quick tips to conserve water. And what better way to illustrate that education than a mural? One we could keep permanently in our store. It ended up being not only a beautiful piece of artwork, but generated a fantastic response from shoppers and our team.
Thumbtack helped us find the perfect muralist for the job. I answered a few questions about what we were looking for and received five bids for the project. I looked at each respondents’ online portfolio to get a better feel for their style and capabilities, then narrowed it down to my two favorites. From there, I got estimates and preliminary sketches from both artists and Gary was the most flexible on budget and design, so we went with him. He ended up being wonderful to work with!
Before the project, I hadn’t heard of Thumbtack, we just stumbled across it on Google! It was a great tool – easy to use, and well-developed. So great that I passed it along to our other regional Marketing Specialists in the Denver-metro area as a way for them to search for good, local talent.
In Gary’s words, “One of my goals: Complete. Stop by and see this 25′ x 5′ mural painted in one day!”
