FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, it starts with a phone conversation. I try to get as much information as possible to provide a quote over the phone. Sending photos is always a good idea. Sometimes I may need to come out and see the project in person to be able to provide an accurate quote.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education comes in the form of networking with other woodworkers and re-finishers. There is always a new technique or a new tool to share. Blogs, memberships in woodworking guilds and associations are all great ways to stay up on new trends and share information with each other, and most importantly to ask questions! I can always find someone with an answer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Simply put...my father Max. I grew up in his upholstery shop. He took me to work all the time and I loved playing with all the tools. Curious as to what each did I was constantly asking him questions. I was the kid that always took things apart just to see how it was made. My first piece that I refinished I was only 10 years old. I found an old mantle radio in my fathers shop. It was beautiful, but the wood was pretty damaged. I was curious as to what it looked like when it was brand new. Of course I had to take it apart. My father showed me how to fix and refinish the wood. I will always remember how that wood looked after we were done. I was hooked.
