I am very happy with the care and cleaning by Charles and his team Air Duct Professionals. Apparently dryers should be cleaned every year (and Charles says you can use a leaf blower in the disconnected dryer entry one year and alternate with the pro your second year). Heating cooling ductwork should be cleaned every 5-7 years. I didn't know that, but can see how this makes sense. My ducts were filthy, as I had never had them cleaned, and after 14 years I was prompted when my dryer lost its efficiency. Charles and his team did fine work. They arrived on time, cleaned up during and after, including cleaning vent covers and floor sweeping any escaped debris (like old paint chipped overspray from the builder). The job took over 3.5 hours on my two system, 20 vent household. Charles was very knowledgable, inspected the job and then took the extra effort of going into the attic to check the condition of the ducts themselves. He pointed out that skipping this step could make the whole cleaning process a waste of time. He found a couple of holes made the repairs at no charge. He also did extra work with the attic for me--observing it needed cleanup, including removing a dead bird, which prompted me to give him a hefty tip. Meanwhile the team sealed the vents and vacuumed/cleaned them thoroughly. The dryer vents out of my roof, and I hadn't realized the end cap (deflecto) had blown off and was missing. It left an opening in the roof for the bird to get into my attic and also was the reason my dryed vent was clogged-- with a second big fat (dead) bird that had flown down the tube, which Charles desposed of. Charles has a background in fire restoration/cleanup, and this knowledge showed in his work. He also pointed out that when I run the dryer I must turn on the fan and shut the laundry room door to keep lint from escaping into my house. He also recommended I start using a better filter than my current (which the company does not sell), the 3M Filtrete. He also replaced the dryer/wall connector as mine had screw holes for lint to escape. He showed me how much lint had collected around the holes, some of which went airborn. So not only did Charles, Jasmine and Jevan do great work, I also learned from this experience. The Deflecto replacement required someone with a long ladder to tackle the job. I hired a second company who also cleans ducts (they didn't bring their long ladder, though I had explained what the job needed). They came, and they inspected Charles' work because they said some air duct cleaners don't really do a good job, that the ducts still might need cleaning, but after inspecting there was no need for any more work. So I would say the second company gave (tacit) good reviews to Charles' team as well.

The guys who came to replace my water heater were friendly and professional. They spent a lot of time sourcing the right, hard to find sized water heater that would work and vent best in the odd shaped "basement". A+, top notch, would recommend to a friend.

First off Devin Peterson has been the best service technician we have come across. He is the operations manager and we have been serviced by other employees and he has passed on his stellar service. This company has in the ball park pricing and with the priceless customer service its well worth it. They stand behind all there work and everything they have said. Atomic is a follow through company and we will always be forever grateful that we've found this service company. Atomic has provided our home of these services Air duct & Dryer vent cleaning ,Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning and Air conditioning and Heating maintenance with some repairs. The only service we haven't had is the interior home cleaning offered but we do plan on it when the time comes. Its such a blessing to have this company for all those services. Thank you Atomic , Melissa and Richard Brenton

Charles contacted me right away after I selected his company. He was able to arrange the appointment a few days in the future, and also contacted me to say he was running a little late. He did a thorough job cleaning all the air ducts, including the dryer. He also gave me feedback about the health of my heating and air conditioning unit, which I appreciated. I would definitely hire him again when next I need this service.

Tony and his guys did a great job! They were thorough, polite, and took the time to explain all they were doing every step of the way (tools used, cleaning process, etc.). They were sure to cover and protect all of our furniture and vacuumed each room as they finished. Our air ducts are super clean and we noticed an improvement in our air quality and circulation immediately. They also cleaned our dryer vent -- it was amazing (and frightening) what they cleared out of our dryer duct, which I clean fairly regularly. They let you know all pricing up front, so there were no $urprises. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have their air ducts or dryer vents cleaned. 5-STARS

I didn't realize what duct and vent cleaning really meant until I used San Fernando Valley Heating and Air Conditioning. I previously hired a company who actually didn't remove and clean every vent, clean the furnance and ducts. Don't be fooled by discount coupons and hire San Fernando Valley Heating and Air Conditioning. They are excellent and well worth the money.

I needed a really good carpet cleaning the other day! Based on the amazing reviews on the site I had decided to go ahead and choose this company here! I gave them a ring; right away I was greeted by this lovely lady and she was able to schedule me in right away! I called and had an appointment for both a carpet cleaning and an air vent cleaning for the same day! Usually when I call other companies I have to wait ages to go ahead and get scheduled in for an appointment! Best of all the super duo of technicians came right on time and they gave me a courtesy call beforehand as well which was very nice. These guys came out and did the job, by the time everything was said and done; my air vents were spotless and so was my carpet too! Wow! Talk about great quality work here...all for a great price too!

So glad I found Reseda Carpet and Air Duct Cleaning. They sent someone over to clean the carpet the same day I called. It feels so refreshing that there is a very dependable company out there who is available anytime of the day. Bottom line, excellent service and thorough cleaning for a low price. They are going to be now my 'official' carpet cleaners.

The guys were very good, their pricing was good, and they came when they said. They actually went above and beyond to clean the vent of the dryer, pulling everything out, checking it, and pulling it out again to make sure that there were no kinks in the line. I was quite impressed!

Although we clean more than just your sofa or couch, this page is dedicated to inform you about the care and maintenance of sofa cleaning. When shopping for a new sofa, take consideration about the cleanability of the fabric. If you have a child or young teenager, then seriously consider buying a sofa made with microfiber. Microfiber cleans and dries better than any other fine fabric and breathes well. Buying a bonded leather sofa also makes sense because you can maintain cleanings in-between being cleaned professionally. Whether you have a sofa, couch, sectional, or arm chair to be cleaned, you can trust the professionals at Cheap Air Duct Cleaners. To maintain the cleanliness of your sofa, you should vacuum once a week and spot clean and rinse well. Do not add and perfume or powder your sofa to smell good. You should have your sofa professionally cleaned once a year. Your bonded leather sofa can be wiped down weekly with a damp towel or baby wipes.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

      • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
      • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
      • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
      • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
      • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
      • Ductwork properly protected.
      • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

      • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
        • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
        • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
        • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
      • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
      • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
