Local Moving (under 50 miles)
Firstly, the two-star rating does not at all reflect the polite and respectful behavior of Cristian and his moving crew. The young men were very courteous, had excellent demeanors, and worked tirelessly. That is why it took me so long to write this review. I wanted to be very thoughtful about what to say so that it would be helpful to potential clients. That said, if you are looking for a professional moving crew. i.e., you want your personal belongings to arrive unscathed from your old place and in your new place with minimal damage to either residence, this is not the crew. Here's why: * This seems to be more of a side job, than something they do full-time. Which would be fine, but it's clear in the results that they don't do the work full time. * They forgot to bring tools to assemble and disassemble furniture items, which was part of the promised service. Luckily, we had a set of tools handy. * They also only had a dolly for large appliances, which was used to move our washer and dryer. We're glad they at least had this dolly. But, they neither used this dolly to stack nor had another dolly available to move our boxes from the condo to the moving truck. Meaning to say, while there was at least the appliance dolly available to use while the washer and dryer weren't being loaded, they didn't use it to minimize their back-and-forth trips with boxes to the moving truck. Instead, they made individual back-and-forth trips from the condo to the truck with every single box, which, of course, added a lot of unnecessary time to the job. * They wore marking-soled tennis shoes. At our new place, we had just completed refinishing the floors (to a light finish no less). Granted, we should have papered over the main paths of travel, but if they had worn non-marking soled shoes (which we would expect from a professional moving crew), then this wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, we now have several black rubber scuff marks throughout the house on our light floors which we have now discovered will require professional refinishing touch-ups because the only way to get the black rubber marks out also involves stripping off the finish we just paid thousands of dollars to have done. * They did not adequately wrap delicate items for transport. This was promised as part of the service and they certainly had the plastic wrap and blankets with them, but our furniture pieces that needed it most were not protected. They wrapped the corners of our sofas, thank goodness, but our wood veneered vanity was not wrapped for transport and now has a long scratch across the top. Our washing machine and dryer were also not wrapped for transport. The washing machine didn't get dinged during transport, but it did get seriously banged up trying to get it into the house. Yes, the entry ways in our new home are narrow (it's a home from the 1950s), but the scratches could have been minimized if the machines were at least plastic wrapped. They had initially covered them with blankets, but they couldn't devise a way for the blankets to stay on when they tried to get the units into the house. At that point, we would have expected the plastic wrap to come out so that the edges of the units would be protected. That didn't happen and what was once a flawless unit is now heavily scratched and scuffed on one corner side. In case you are thinking, well, you get what you pay for, they actually weren't the cheapest. We had to negotiate with Cristian to get his hourly rate (this includes amortizing the truck rental over the total hours) to be in line with the other Thumbtack bidders. Again, Cristian and his young friends were very pleasant. They didn't dilly dally at all. But, their moving methodology shows their lack of experience. There was no clear strategy and no real care about the details (I'm thinking of not having a specific dolly for boxes or even using the dolly they rented for the appliances while it was just sitting around, wearing tennis shoes that have the non-marking soles, and not strategically wrapping big ticket items) which led to a longer move than it needed to be and damage to our property, which is really too bad because with a little thought and planning both those things could have easily been avoided. We would say that if you have a sofa or a bed that needs moving and you either do the wrapping work yourself (but make sure that is reflected in a discounted price if that is the case) or those items are already not in perfect condition, then this is the crew for you. But if you need a little more care and attention for your things, then you might want to look around.Feb 20, 2016Verified
the work is not done, so rating them is really prematureAug 13, 2019Verified
SoCal Euro Cleaning has been great to work with! They have reasonable prices, they are very responsive and flexible with timing. We used them to clear away multiple truck fills of construction debris as well as doing the demo of our kitchen. They cleaned up everything, swept up afterwards and really did a perfect job! We will happily use them again and would highly recommend them!Aug 8, 2019Verified
