I hope you are lucky enough to have Chef Marcel produce your event. We had a college graduation party for family and grads, poolside with passed and stationary hors d'ouvres. Marcel and his staff were punctual, professional, courteous, warm and personable without being intrusive. Marcel had worked with us to create exactly the menu we wanted, and by showtime, the food absolutely exceeded our expectations. It is no exaggeration to say we were thrilled. We were impressed with Chef Marcel's responsiveness to our emails and texts; he was willing and able to meet our needs. As we were hosting our party as out-of-towners in a VRBO, logistics were tricky, but Marcel managed everything for us with ease. It is easy to spot competency and experience, and Marcel has both in spades. I can't imagine a better personality to work with or better food. Chef Marcel, thank you thank you thank you! We can't wait to return to LA and have another event with you!
Gourmet Lovers recently catered my son's wedding reception and everything turned out wonderfully! Carolina, Boris and their team took care of everything from start to finish and they didn't leave until the place was spotless. The food was amazing. My son and his bride didn't want "traditional" reception food so Chef Boris put together some of the tastiest tacos, beans, rice and salsa we have ever had, not to mention a fun interactive build your own Nacho Bar for the hors d'oeuvres that all the guests raved about. Not only was Chef Boris' food amazing, Carolina's wedding cake was something special. She worked with us to design just want the bride and groom wanted. The cake was rich in flavor and beautifully decorated. She certainly knows how to bake an amazing cake. I am a fan of Gourmet Lovers Catering and highly recommend them to anyone needing a caterer who not only knows how to put together great food, but knows how to work within your budget. Carolina was always prompt in returning calls and always stayed in touch with us. I plan on using them for all my catering needs in the future.
Chef Mike catered our Toastmasters Club's 25th Anniversary Gala. We had 80 guest. Chef Mike was the first caterer to respond to my request for a quote and he continued to be quick to respond throughout the entire process. Chef Mike provided us with a tasting prior to the event and we were sold from the first bite. He and his crew were flexible, professional, kind and efficient. The food was marvelous. We had Tri-tip, Salmon and Chicken for our entrees. All three were superb. So were the side dishes. Chef Mike altered his ingredients to accommodate our gluten free attendees and added special entrees for our vegan enthusiasts. No matter the request, the answer was always "Yes". Chef Mike and his team were a big part of the successful outcome of our event. I highly recommend Gourmet Your Way Catering for any event, large or small! My husband and I hired Madkins catering for a family weekend in the desert (La Quinta). We requested a bbq for the first night, and an early Easter dinner for the second night. I expected the meals to be good but not great (I haven’t really had an excellent catering experience). However, the meals were OUTSTANDING. Chef Aviarie is truly talented, and our entire family and guests talked about the interesting flavors and quality of the food. I still can’t get over how Chef Aviarie and Frank prepared everything from scratch in our kitchen in just a few hours! We requested a hefty amount of dishes, and they pulled it off without a sweat! The team is incredibly kind, professional and a pleasure to have cooking in our kitchen. They even managed to entertain our 6 year old nephew while they were cooking. I should also note their rates are very reasonable! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. I am happy to serve as a personal reference in case anyone wants my feedback. I hired these guys about a year ago for a small dinner party, about 5 of us. It was such a great experience! It was a while ago so I can't remember the chef's name, I think it was David, he was on time, professional, super friendly, did a great job working with my tiny apartment kitchen and crappy old stove. The food was impeccable! No joke BEST crab cakes I've ever had in my life! We all had a great time and my friends were also so impressed with the food. They still talk about the dinner. I'm not a fancy person who hires private chefs all the time, it was my first, but it was such a great experience I would do it again if a special occasion came up and would absolutely hire him again! Highly recommend! It took so long to leave this review because I forgot to do it last year and I'm an outta sight outta mind person, unfortunately, but I just got on here to look for another service and saw them on my list and had to leave this review. Won't disappoint!
Chef Marc is the best!!! He has completely changed my lifestyle. To give some context, I oversee 2 divisions of an entertainment advertising agency and have a very fast pace, very stressful, always working, late hours lifestyle. I lived in NYC for many years before moving to LA and cooking was never my thing. I tend to order out or make simple things. I’m a chubby girl and recently, my doctor put me on a medical cleanse with a very restricted diet. Chef Marc came to the rescue. He was able to accommodate the restrictions and made everything taste amazing!!! I had to go vegan gluten free as well and he made sure I was well fed during that time. He’s opened my eyes to how to eat well and still be satisfied. In the last 2 months of working with Chef Marc I’ve lost 15lbs. I have minimals snacks and all his food is yummy and keeps me satisfied. He has a wide variety of meals that always keep it interesting. I’ve also turned on a couple colleagues in my office to him. We all talk about how great and yummy his food is. I highly recommend working with Chef Marc. He’s super nice and takes good care of his clients. I intend on continuing to work with Chef Marc now that my cleanse is almost over to continue to loose wieght and most importantly, eat healthy! Thank you Chef Marc! Thank you!
First of all Susan is delightful which is great cause who needs a snarky chef with attitude. On top of that she is a great chef. We asked for an American meat based menu and got the tastiest short rib in a Parmesan crust in individual bowls. I can't wait to use Susan again.
Had a great experience with Executive Chef Mark Kearney and Team. To set expectations before the review, I like to consider myself a food lover...not a critic, just a food lover. I love great dining experiences and am equally critical or disappointed when they fall short. My family and I were hosting Christmas Dinner for a total of 10 family members. I found Chef Mark on Thumbtack based on his previous reviews. Roy (part of Mark's team) promptly reached out with thought-starters for the meal and breakout of pricing. Over the next few weeks Roy, Mark and I worked closely crafting the perfect menu for my traditional Christmas dinner, while staying within my budget parameters. To note, Chef Mark is priced higher than some of the other chefs I was in contact with, but I'm glad we went with Mark based on the outcome. The menu consisted of 4 gourmet hors d oeuvres passed around while we opened presents. A fan favorite was the roasted fig with gorgonzola and prosciutto. Then time for dinner. We sat at the dining table and were served Butternut Ravioli as an appetizer, Lobster Bisque soup (a bit on the spicy side - only critique I have with the food all night) and an organic baby butterleaf salad with incredible apricot balsamic vinaigrette. The main course was both a grilled beef tenderloin (prepared to your liking) and pan roasted turkey breast. Sides that accompanied the main course were brocollini, green beans and bacon/garlic mashed potatoes. Everything (except the soup) was beyond 5 stars in terms of presentation, taste and expectations. Lastly we were served two very decadent and delicious deserts - a molten lava cake and traditional bread pudding. Two things to mention. My wife was forced (by her OBGYN) into a new diet two days prior to the Christmas dinner consisting of no dairy and no soy. When Chef Mark arrived we asked him what had dairy and soy ingredients and he quickly and thoughtfully mentioned that he could make my wife's servings without either dairy or soy. Talk about going above and beyond. This was much appreciated and set the tone for the entire dinner! I would potentially ask for two servers for the evening on future events. One to solely serve as sous chef, helping Mark prepare the food in the kitchen and the other server to help set the table, serve food, wine, etc.. throughout the evening. The 5 hours that Mark and Team allocate for the evening can go quickly. This might alleviate that. Either way, a great experience and thank you Mark and Team!
I have to qualify this review first by saying I have worked as a professional cook and have owned a catering business. So I have an eye for and know what works and what doesn't, what can be prepped beforehand without sacrificing quality, and what can be done on sight and off-site with the aim of making sure everything is properly expedited and comes out on time. When I arrived the table was set up nicely set up and decorated. However, we had previously informed Chef that we were going to be 13 and we would like two tables, as some people are uncomfortable with sitting at a table of 13 people. So we had to ask Chef to please separate the two tables. When Bridgette came the day before, my wife mentioned she wanted a table of 6 and one of 7, not two tables pushed together to make 13. There were also no cloth napkins, but paper napkins. I guess assuming that a request for "linens" did not include cloth napkins, only tablecloths. But I digress. Even though this was done in our home where we are well equipped, I still expect anyone coming to prepare food to come fully equipped to meet their needs without having to use the home equipment. This was not the case, as Chef used our Kitchenaid, tongs, and other items. As well, they did not have a serving platter for one of the hors'd'oeuvres. Furthermore, they had to use some of our silverware because they did not bring everything needed (spoons, forks). There were steak knives on the table when we were eating fish, and no other knives. I had no problem with this because, of course, I wanted the event to go smoothly. But other clients might not have been as flexible. Finally, they used all my kitchen towels and had them all wet, from I don't know what- but it's easy enough to bring your own hand towels. As well, because we used the plates on the table for hors'd'ouevres, they had to wash and prepare again for salad plates, as they had expected the hors'd'oeuvres to simply be finger food. Nonetheless, the hors'd'oeuvres-asparagus with prosciutto and chicken bites, or whatever they might have been-still require plates. This delayed serving. More forethought should have been given to how this was all going to go down. Personally, I would have brought the salad all prepped. Because it wasn't prepped, it meant a longer serving delay. The server didn't know the difference between wine and water glasses-some basic protocol needed. The food was excellent and I had several very positive compliments from the guests, this is where they shined, and it was served hot and fresh like it should be. We had a delicious shaved fennel salad with parmesan, and a main course of Blackened Sea Bass with a succotash and roasted potatoes. That is the beauty of preparing on-site. I say this with the caveat, as mentioned earlier, that a few things could have been prepped beforehand without sacrificing quality. This would have allowed the service to flow more quickly and not have such long delays between dishes. As Chef prepared the chocolate mousse on site, some people had to leave before dessert since it took well over 45 minutes between our main course and dessert. While we had agreed that I would supply the chocolate, it I had known it was going to take chef so long to prepare it, I would have suggested it be made beforehand. If I had done this lunch, I would have brought the mousse pre-made. They used up my whole bag of ice too-I would have brought ice. Finally, food left over was taken away and not left with us. I asked the server I f she was going to leave the food to me as she was walking out and she laughed uncomfortably and said no. My assumption is that the client paid for the food, they should get any leftovers. I give Kudos to the Chef for excellent food, but the service was uncomfortably slow and everyone noticed. Finally, the server was inexperienced. Overall, organization and attention to details were lacking. To end on a positive note, they did an excellent job leaving the kitchen just as the found it and were friendly and professional despite the hiccups mentioned. I didn't have to worry about anything. If you are looking for good food, Chef Mumsie does a great job. But please ask that they send you experienced servers, and make sure to point out every possible detail that you can think of, because in my experience, they did not have a checklist or form to check off what you do or don't need for an event.
So Devine Catering catered an engagement party for my daughter. I can't say enough how awesome they are. I had never hired a caterer before and was a bit out of my element. Chef Alexa was super cool and kind enough to walk me through the process, meet with me and really did an outstanding job. Chef Alexa and her entire team are just awesome. Everyone at our party was impressed. Just can't say enough great things!
I am beyond grateful to Thumbtack for connecting me to Chef Keith Prante and his team at Hautè Productions Events and Catering to cater my mom's 80th birthday celebration. They are absolutely A-MAZING! Chef Prante was one of two chefs who responded to my request via Thumbtack, and I also received a personal referral. Neither of the other caterers offered ANYWHERE NEAR the quality, selections, variety and value that Hautè offered at my price point. We had our tasting today, and it absolutely sealed the deal! Everything was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. I highly recommend Hautè Productions to any potential customer who appreciates excellence, accommodation and genuine customer service.
I called One Hot Dish to help with my parents. Both are diabetic and in need of a special diet. My mom is an amazing cook but since she broke her ankle two years ago, she has declined in health and not able to get around the kitchen as easilly in her scooter. Michelle delivers food to their door and up until now, they say everything has been delicious. I might add, she went the extra yard for my dad. He has a difficult time chewing so she went out of her way to make his portions soft and easy to manage. I will continue to use thier services. .
On Feb 1, 2018, Chef Amy performed her private chef services at my girlfriend’s birthday party with our teenage daughter. Amy curated a delicious 5-course menu based on our favorites. She prepared the food in new fun beautiful ways. Amy was funny, approachable and professional. She brought all needed cooking and serving ware. She cooked and cleaned up everything. Amy explained and presented every course of the meal and prepared unique never seen before drinks that were a huge hit! The food portions in each course were just right and completely filling. Amy clearly loves cooking and enjoys interacting with clients. Amy was sooo good by evenings end that we were singing to our throw-back music playlist and hugging her goodbye with anticipation of a future event. I definitely plan to hire Amy many more times in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND- 5 STARS
Carmi provides delicious and nutritious meals for our family of 4, with 2 small kids, including one on the ketogenic diet for seizures. Carmi is responsible and responsive, easy to get a hold of, and goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. She has become a friend to our family!
Greg was everything I could have wanted in a personal dining chef! Such a warm personality, professional yet personal, and off the chart food. I could go on and on about the food combinations, the incredible taste, and presentation of a five star meal, made with love. Steven came to our home, to serve my husband and me our anniversary dinner. He brought a beautifully printed out menu explaining the courses. He brought his own dishware which was lovely. From the well displayed appetizers to the meal itself ... we were delighted! The food was five star! And dessert was impressive! A very wonderful experience from beginning to end. Valerie was our chef for almost a year. She moved to LA so we sadly no longer work with her. She is absolutely fantastic! I had strict dietary restrictions including dairy free, sugar free and grain free and Val cooked all of our meals with that in mind. AND they were all fantastic! We miss her a lot, but anyone that works with her is so lucky!!

We hired Unique Luxury Catering to prepare a family dinner for 8 for my wife's birthday on our patio at Pelican Hill.Chef Brad prepared a fabulous meal topped off by a scratch made carrot cake that was divine.The reduction sauce with vanilla bean added was incredible to plate everything in.
