We write this review here based on our great experience with Eyal at Excel Construction. Eyal’s vision for our new layout of the kitchen, worked out very well and was set within our price range. He spent several hours back and forth with us in order to understand us first and then to bring us the best design while walking us through the entire remodeling process from start to finish. All the people that worked at our house, were polite, quick, responsive, experts and focused. Combined all of that together, ended up with a terrific results. Each day the house was cleaned and organized before they left home. The complete remodeling took 5 weeks and it was fully worth the wait. They installed all the required appliances, hardware flooring, marble countertop, all the cabinets, backsplash, sink and faucet. Eyal who was the main supervisor on our project, replied to all of our questions and he made sure that each change or tweak will be done at no time. It was clear enough that their customer service and satisfaction was very important to Eyal and the crew. They left the new kitchen in a very high quality and workmanship. We would recommend them!

Yep. Julio Carillo is officially our Roof Guy. Our case: fix the leaky parts of the roof and install elatomeric coating for energy efficiency (1800 sg ft) We were trying to pick out 1 of 3 companies that we had quotes for (2 of them were large name companies) . The prices were very competitive and it was hard to tell who'd do a better job. We decided to go with Roofing & Waterproofing because smaller companies need more job opportunities than the large ones. Besides, Julio's first impression was very pleasant and he really knew what we needed his help with. On the day that he came out to do the job, he brought a crew with him and finished within one day. We were thrilled! I had to wait for a VERY HOT DAY and a VERY RAINY day before giving this review and luckily both happened within a month. The house stays cool even when the sun is blazing outside and the leaks are GONE! A new leak was found during that rainy evening, but it was NOT PART of the house that we had asked them to service. It was a SEPARATE unit. Julio came out on a Saturday, quoted us a very reasonable price and fixed it on the spot. What can I say, we can't believe the luck we had in finding this company and with the quality of their work. Our Sincerest THANKS to you, Julio! Keep up the good work!!

My 30 years old concrete roof was leaking into my garage, so out the rain bucket, then a second bucket. Roofing tiles were slipping and mortar caps were missing or cracked. It was time for a inspection and maintenance repairs. After three estimates, it was clear that Ron Paveloff had the knowledge, experience, and my confidence that he was the one for me. He pointed out all the little things that other roofer's did not even notice as potential problems. In the future, "He's My 1st. Choice"! Thanks you Mr. Paveloff! I'm happy as a clam.

I had a GREAT experience with Daniel from World Class Construction! I did not know him before, but he is now my "go to " guy. I had a smaller but very difficult job with some drainage issues and he came up with good suggestions on a repair and his cost and service were great. Also had some additional drywall work done and he was also very fair and competitive. Daniel was also very professional in every aspect, from the contract to finshing the work.

Scope - replace hallway floors (due to slight flooding/leak); gut reno one of the bathrooms; customize hallway closet(s). Pros: - Contractor was prompt to respond and quick to commence the job - Joe and his team are very professional - Quality of work is good - It is apparent that State Wide has a Subject Matter Expert for every aspect of the reno (different folks for plumbing, carpentry, tiles, flooring). Most likely 3rd parties but pros nonetheless. - flexible payment structure (also accepts CCs) Cons: - Execution was very slow; perhaps Joe's team was focused on bigger projects (it was mentioned on a few occasions) and it was apparent that our reno was not prioritized. - there were items that should have been spec'd out and ordered as to avoid delays (e.g. floor should have been matched on day1, subway tiles etc..). Numerous days were wasted as the team was waiting on the materials - my biggest frustration with the reno was the lack of empathy and accountability. Excuses/justifications were presented instead of just owning up to the significant delay (work was supposed to be executed in 10-14 days max; it took 30 days). It would have been completely fine if the delay was communicated properly instead of us hounding the team. Overall, we are happy with the renovation.

We are a small 6 unit HOA in South Redondo Beach. Our roof had never been replaced, and sorely need to be. We worked closely with Frank. He was very straight with the bids. We got bids from 3 other roofers. What impressed us was that the bid they gave us initially was close to their final bid. You can count on them to be fair. Also we were impressed by the knowledge and the commitment to putting a roof on that would be beautiful and Last! They were willing to be patient with us through the process it takes to get everything approved by our HOA. The owner dropped by several times to check on the progress and answer any questions we had. i could go on & on but I think you get the picture these guys are good! The crew was great,,, on time, on task, courteous and oh my gosh very hard working! They were responsive every step of the way. We have a beautiful new roof! We could not be more pleased. I have included before and after Photos for you to see the work they

Looked at the problem right away. Came the very next day and got it done. Did what was needed and was very fairly priced. Would definitely use again as he had some suggestions for maintaining the roof but wasn’t trying to sell me on thousands of dollars of needless work.

I was ready for some remodeling in my home. My kitchen needed an update and so did a few of the bathrooms. Searching google I found GIM and saw that they did energy efficient remodeling and upgrades. I contacted GIM and set an appointment for a consultant to come by to show me some options. The consultant showed us many samples of flooring, tile, roofing, painting, and multiple other products they offered. They even had their own architect to take care of the drawings for me and also had a 3d design for the kitchen. All the work was done properly and my home was left clean everyday. Appreciate all the hard work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
