Introduction: I have been a woodwind teacher for 18 years. I teach saxophone and clarinet and i am a 40 year music artist.i have taught hundreds of students every style of music from classical jazz blues swing pop rock world folk movie broadway latin to improvisatiion. All of my students have achieved excellence in all phases of music. I have developed a unique method of teaching, which makes music exciting and fun. The results are my students become the best in their respective schools and far beyond. Many have gone to OCSA and earned scholarships to major universities. My method is based on artistic performance using hundreds of songs and accompaniments from my extensive music library. I love my students and they know it, i believe in them and they respond accordingly and have fun While learning.

I took private adult saxophone lessons from Richard for almost one year. Thanks to his guidance, I started with almost zero know how to playing pieces like Desafinado, Take Five, and Peter Gunn Theme with excellent tonality. He has his own unique style of teaching that really catapults you to success quickly within a short amount of time. Regrettably, I moved up to San Francisco so will be unable to continue lessons with him. Highly recommend him for private lessons

I am an adult saxophone player who has currently been taking private lessons with Richard Bond for about 3 months now. My experience with Richard has been very satisfying and in a short amount of time my ability to play difficult music and rhythms on my sax has increased greatly as well as my technique and my tone. I am always excited for my weekly lessons with Richard because I know I am going to learn something new and exciting. If you or your child are looking to learn to play an instrument with someone who is experienced, trustworthy, patient and encouraging I strongly recommend Richard Bond.

My words fail me to describe how smart Richard is when it comes to teaching. He teaches for the love of teaching. He really cares about his students and finds joy in teaching and seeing his students improve. I was a total beginner when I started with him. I still remember the first lesson when I couldn't even blow in the headjoint, and I thought that it was too late for me to learn the flute at this age. But he was there for me. He encouraged me to keep going and not give up. The second lesson I was able to blow. The third lesson I was able to play two songs, songs you would actually love to play (not "Mary had a little lamb"). I have improved so much in a very short period of time. He even let me use his flute while I'm saving up to buy one. And he does not watch the clock. We easily go beyond the 1 hour.

Mr. Bond is passionate about music. I have never, ever handled a saxophone much less create "sound' with it. I have no knowledge about music - ZERO, but Mr. Bond was able to make me feel good about myself and boost my confidence. At first I thought I'm too old for this (pushing 60), but he allowed me to make sax sounds going through the ABCDEF & fingering the sax.I enjoyed my first day with Mr. Bond and he is not at all worried about going over his time. He is very generous with his time for the same fee! Thank you!

Richard is a patient, fun, and excellent teacher. His passion for music in contagious and I am so happy I found him. I was so nervous to have to play the flute in front someone because I hadn't played for so long, but he put me at ease immediately and has made playing fun again. I give Richard 5 stars and recommend anyone interested in music lessons to give him a chance!!

They can send me audio clips, or upon first communication or arrival of first lesson I can ask them or have them to play to find out where they are at in terms of skill level. I have music for all skill levels and frequently work with students of all ages.
