I hired Sergey to remove a ceiling fan with lights and assemble and install a replacement. He arrived when he said he would, worked quickly, and cleaned up afterward. I believe I paid a fair price and I'm happy.

We had a great experience working with Jose. He was the only person that responded to our initial inquiry with a quote that matched the services requested and a clear understanding of the job. In advance of our appointment, he helped evaluate the new faucet that we planned to install and was accommodating when we thought it might not arrive in time for our scheduled appointment. He arrived on time, working quickly and efficiently. The end result was perfect - the newly installed faucet looks amazing and he fixed a problem with one of our sinks that was the result of someone else’s poor workmanship. We will definitely reach out to Jose for any future projects we might have.

Sunny Appliance Repair was great. They spent two hours thoroughly evaluating our dishwasher and explaining what was wrong with it. Ultimately, they advised us to replace the dishwasher since the price of the repair would be more than the value of the machine. Even after putting in so much time, they only charged us the estimate fee.

I had a plumbing repair that required new fittings as well as treatment of wet wood. Michael was on time, efficient and neat. His price was reasonable and his explanation of what needed to be done was understandable. I would use this service again.

We found Salinas home remodeling services most helpful in several ways. Services done for us included electrical wiring, plumbing installation, wall and ceiling painting with texture applications. Also, bathtub, sink and appliance installation. All work was done at high standards. Note: we also experienced generous and positive attitudes from soft spoken professionals, and received on time service. Above all, we have memories of his installation process that are most rewarding. Thank You, Mr. Vyron Salinas and his helper Pablo. Yours truly, Nicholas Adkins

GEM construction arrived a couple of days prior to working on my bathroom to give me a free estimate. They were very professional and easy to communicate with. They replaced the faucet and vanity in our bathroom. Everything was done in a day and they cleaned up after themselves. They are very honest even showed me a receipt for parts they had to purchase to finish working on our bathroom (I didn’t ask them for it). I recommend GEM construction for your plumbing needs.

Charles is very nice and professional: 1) On Friday I told him I was picking up my toilet on Saturday, asked him if he could install it on Sunday. And he did! Very much appreciated his super quick response! Especially knowing he is in the middle of a bigger job. 2) Though there were some unexpected issues (the existing floor flange and wall valve), he was trying and trying and then made it work, which showed his experience and commitment to get job done. 3) My Toto toilet and Brondell Swash installation job well done. He cleaned up the old glue and caulking, and put new nice caulking, which looks much better than the previous one. 4) His charge is very reasonable and with very good value. I will sure call him in case I have other jobs.

Great communication and feedback, responsive to our needs, reliable and took initiative to diagnose and repair the problems of non-functioning kitchen lights, outdoor sconces and doorbell. These qualities were especially important since Cody had to work on a rental property i.e., liaise with busy tenants and coordinate with us, the owners, who live out of State. Recommended. Good value. Thank you.

Very happy I chose Swift Appliance Repair to fix my fridge. I was very impressed with the whole experience starting from speaking to their customer service rep Daniel who was very nice, scheduled same day appointment, explained everything and gave me a price range, to the technician Ali who was on time, very professional and knowledgeable. My built in LG fridge was fixed for a decent price and very promptly, even though they had to order some parts. Would definitely call them again and recommend to friends!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
