I'm was really disappointed after so many 5 star reviews on yelp. Here is what I have left on his many listings: I have never had such an awful experience with a worker, and I've completely remodeled 4 houses - this was just a painting job and should have been simple. I saw straight away that the caulking was bad, but my continued requests to have it fixed were ignored and Marcos just painted over it in what seems to be an attempt to cover up the poor quality of his work. They also used a case of caulk I had set aside for return - they replaced it after I complained that all materials were to be provided by them, but then again used half of it toward the end of the job. When I again complained that they'd used something I had paid for, he claimed that it had only been a partial case to begin with. After he put on the first coat of paint, I pointed out that he didn't prime as agreed to. He denied this emphatically, and when I pointed out that my neighbor, who works in home construction, had made note of this as well, he explained it by saying it was because he mixed the house paint with the primer till it was the same color, in order to help with coverage. He also said that's what he had done with the first coat on the stairs, when I pointed out that you could see the original paint through the new, with no indication of any priming being done. As anyone who knows anything about painting knows, mixing paint with the primer completely negates the primer - so I'm not sure what's worse here; he's either dishonest or incompetent. After several attempts to rectify the situation, I had to email Maria H., who does the scheduling, and tell her Marcos was not to set foot on my property again until someone else came out to look at the work. While Marcos stomped and fumed and pouted that I was less than overjoyed with the quality of his efforts, Jim at least seemed to hear my concerns, and assured me that all the mistakes would be corrected. He also assured me that they stood by their workmanship, and would come out to repair any issues that arose due to their work. I write this now because in addition to all of the above, and the mess of empty paint cans, caulking tubes, and trash they left in my backyard, they have refused to complete repairs to to caulking they did. Marcos doesn't like the idea of coming out here again (as he states he took an immediate dislike to me), even though it was his lack of diligence that caused this to be necessary -- he had to come back a second time because the first time he "didn't think" the paint we gave him was the house color (it was), and then he left without giving us an opportunity to inspect the work...or even finishing what he was supposed to be there to do. I know this is a bit rambling at times, but there were so many problems with this job it is hard to know where to stop or start. Feel free to message me - I can provide you with copies of all the emails about the work issues, including the last one from Marcos which was mildly threatening. I can also take/add more photos if anyone is interested.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common types of jobs that I do have to do with remodeling. A lot of my customers hire me to actually demolish a kitchen or a bathroom or bedroom to reconstruct and remodel! I personally love getting those kinds of jobs because it gives me the opportunity to show all of my work abilities and talents. Also, I really like transforming an older fashioned bathroom for example, into a modern looking bathroom.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice for a customer looking to hire a provider like me is to make sure that their work has great qualities and that their price is reasonable. I would advice that the customer should also ask the provider with several references that show they are trustworthy and reliable, you want to make sure your expenses are going into good and experienced hands. Having a flexible schedule also play a big role in the providers hands because it's certain that the customer will want the job done quickly.
