Doug is an amazing trainer, motivator, and all around guy. I started with him about 7 weeks ago when I was finally ready to make a change. He put me on a nutrition plan that worked for me (others I failed miserably at), he stayed on top of motivating me to come to the gym regularly. When I train with him he doesn't just go through the motions he teaches me why we do certain things and what they do for my body, so I can work out on my own as well. I'm proud to say I've lost 22 lbs in 7 weeks working with Doug at least twice a week and 2-3 times a week on my own thanks to the knowledge he has given me. Doug has helped me change my life for the better and start a healthier lifestyle for good! If you train with Doug you won't be disappointed!!!

The food is delicious! I had 5-day Meal preps for a month and I really appreciated the variety all my meals had! I was looking to sculpt and tone my body and Kassah had created my meals around my needs and nutrition intake. The flavors and seasonings were always on point and my proteins (chicken/turkey/fish) were always tender. Abinci House is well worth the investment especially if you're trying to eat healthy! I have no regrets!

Lana's workouts are exactly what I've needed. She changes it up to keep me motivated. On days I don't workout with her she keeps me on track with a plan. She's very knowledgeable and really knows her stuff. Also Included in her training is a nutrition plan. Awesome trainer!

I have worked with Heather and L.E.A.N Nutrition Consulting to get my nutrition spot on with my training! Not only have I made leaps and bounds in my results, but can honestly say I have never felt better in my whole life since I have started working with her. She has spent quality time listening to my goals, my needs and then aligning them with my lifestyle. Heather goes above and beyond what any nutritional service offers. She puts her whole heart into this. She is prompt in answering questions, offering alternatives when needed and has always made me feel like I am top priority to her.

Jared has the ability to sculpt anyone’s body into exactly what they want. He also has outstanding expertise on food and nutrition and has taught me not only how to exercise my body in the most effective way, but also how I can maintain my body through diet in the most efficient and healthy way possible. Jared’s training works because it’s based on a lot of study on his part, and the results can be seen.

Ernest Demps was my personal trainer for approximately two years. In comparison to other trainers I have had, I can honestly say Ernest is excellent at what he does. Not only is he knowledgeable and professional, but he has a positive, motivating and uplifting attitude. I received the results I was looking for while training with Ernest and continue to seek his help with not only training but healthy food choices as well. I highly recommend Ernest as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant.

Mr. Rodgers Personal Training has excellent customer service. The thing i was impress with the most was how Sean helped from being a newbie to where i feel comfortable going into any gym and using my knowledge to workout. Before i just used cardio machine now i break it down. Oh and Sean is huge on nutrition and removing the words "I can't" out of your vocabulary. Definitelygive him a try especially if you are a newbie like i was.

Mina is a great trainer who helped me lose weight and taught me how to eat healthier. The workouts were challenging, but fun and effective. I lost 10lbs in 30 days. I reached my goal weight, but I will still continue to use her nutrition and fitness services whenever I need them. Strongly recommend her!! - L.D.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
