Introduction: I have been using the aesthetic rules of visual art to creatively compose my images using proper lighting, proper composition & professional equipment for over a decade. Over a decade of professional retouching, you learn a few tricks along the way... Something very unique about my studio, is my ability to offer creative compositing. While this most often takes the form of my special "Head-swap" technique, in the event everyone is smiling except your rebellious little ones, I can still get a fantastic family portrait created for you. If you need a wedding photograph transformed into a Star Wars landscape, you have a five year old Queen Elsa, or you need a newborn baby turned into a fairy changeling in a magical garden, I also offer headswaps with every single family portrait session, free of charge. I offer the more imaginative fine art images through my Fairytale Storybook portraits. My work stands out because I have a practiced eye. Paying careful attention to lighting and composition makes my work go beyond the norm. My ability to retouch and create unique compositions related to the settings and backgrounds is what makes it stand out. Do you want someone who got a DSLR for the holidays to take your portraits, or do you want a skilled fine artists, working smoothly within their chosen medium. I enjoy working with families, couples and children to create long lasting images which show true personalities and capture the glimmer within someone's smile. My toddlers are gorgeous, but not always attentive. Alix spent tons of energy and effectively got the pictures so that they were both looking at the camera. And we _all_ look gorgeous! (family portrait)

Alix was awesome to work with! She was super flexible with all of the last minute changes, and really worked with what we had having a small wedding. She is extremely talented, and gave us way more than what we were hoping for. She made sure to get all of the shots we wanted, and was overall wonderful to work with.

Alix has done family photos twice for us and they have come out extraordinary beautiful. She's very patient but also gets a lot done in a short time. As a fellow mom she knows how to work with children and keep them involved. As a digital artist there is the added bonus of her being able to add fun special effects during the editing process.

Yes - I have standard studio pricing menu, I guide my clients towards Investing in heirloom art & keepsake albums is the perfect way to ensure your photographs last forever! Family Portrait Sessions are $200 for 60-90 minutes (5+ hours of editing) (or $150 for 30 minutes) Prints & Digital Negative Collections purchased separately from your Photo Session with collections starting at $300
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First step is we meet at a Pre-Portrait consultation to discuss your goals and vision for your children and family. We go over look-books showing the many styles that I can create your images in from beach sunset shoots to private scenic locations. You get to choose & communicate your style and your setting, (sunset, parks and clothing choices) . Once we've chosen a style and location, we move onto discussing wardrobe. Many families & couples have a set "look" in mind, while brides usually have already chosen a dress, for family portraits sessions there is also planning. I like to check in BEFORE mom runs out and buys everyone an outfit to coordinate. I also have a studio full of children's dresses for special occasions. We discuss your needs, your desires and go from there gathering the elements, right down to a floral bouquet or bow-tie if needed. Make-up artist also available for additional $150 payable direct to makeup artist. We go over what you need photographs for and if you are planning for a keepsake album or decorating a specific wall in your house with a wall art collection. We talk about whether you need a photograph for a holiday card or other special occasion & any other detail you would like to discuss regarding your upcoming photo session. On the day chosen, we all meet at the location and start from there. 60 minutes of photography in outdoor setting of your choice (Natural Lighting) ; Once we finish the actual photo shoot, I spend 4-8 hours editing your photographs. When it's all ready, we meet again for an in person presentation "reveal" of your gallery of 15 - 25 curated chosen edited images set to a musical slideshow; ; * Once you have seen the photographs from your family session you can then choose from a cherished, heirloom wall art piece, boxed folio prints or a printed album depending on your goals, please note this is an additional cost of your choice. (please note, portrait sessions include pre planning consultation on clothes, backgrounds and settings, shooting, lighting & posing / props for 2 hours, and additional time 5-10 hours of post processing & retouching for your images & adding additional artwork to create the best possible finished digital photographic negative files)
