Dj Charlie was great! We didn't have a planner and he pretty much ran the show. I would recommend him for any event or would book him again for any party I may be throwing in the future. Thanks again Dj Charlie.

Professional, experienced, and very competent. What you expect, what you need, and what you deserve for your wedding or event. In our initial consultation with 3 Little Birds Event Planning we described what we were thinking and our budget, and not to mention our compressed timeline. 3 Little Birds Event Planning was upfront about the challenges of the timeline, but expressed confidence that it could be done. Venue and vendor options were presented to meet our budget as well as options and ideas that were outside our budget should we want to incorporate additional things. Planning any project and event takes a very organized, detail oriented, experienced and well connected planner/company. But when it comes to a wedding, you only have one chance, there are no do overs, and you need someone who will make everything happen. Jessica Smith (3 Little Birds Event Planning) is all of the above and more. They can handle all of the business aspects (contracts, vendors, schedules, timelines, permits, etch, etc), but she also has an artistic eye and design style that provided such amazing ideas and direction to enhance and implement our theme. Trust me the small details that you may not think about make a HUGE difference. With my work schedule so hectic it was impossible for me get decorations or run around doing errands. Having a full service planner was not only helpful it was necessary. The money I would have lost from missed work, by far covered the difference between a day of event planner and full service planner. My recommendation is to go with the full service planner... it gives you the opportunity to have your event and vision grow organically as you meet and continually consult with your planner... not to mention the time and headaches your save yourself, trust me you will thank yourself for it. 3 Little Birds Event Planning is established and has many vendor connections (Florists, DJ, Photographers, Catering, Venues, Decorations, etc., etc.). What I really like is the fact that 3 Little Birds/Jessica Smith doesn’t force or pressure you to use her vendors. We vetted her vendors and chose to go with some of them, and some we didn't. All the vendors she recommended are professional and established and we were very pleased with the vendors she recommended. The vendors we didn’t use were not because of anything deficient, but rather because we had existing industry contacts and already knew great photographers and videographers. 3 Little Birds worked with the vendors they provided as well as the one we selected independently and brought everything together seamlessly. On the big day, things could not have gone any smoother. I was impressed, as were all of the guests. I was able to be present in the moment and truly enjoy our special day. All I can say is thank you, it was a true storybook/fairytale wedding.

Wendy did an amazing time helping not just to decorate our event, but to make sure that it went well. She invested her time to make sure we had everything we needed, worked with us on what we wanted, and did all of this with a tremendous personality. I would highly recommend Wendy if you would like your event to be done well.

We hired KMR Gourmet for our Go Red Por Tu Corazon event this past year. Kenia and her team went above and beyond for our organization and helped make the event amazing. They were very organized and detailed with their work. The food presentation was beautiful and they plated 300 meals really good. Our guest were blown away by the appearance of the food and the staff was very nice. Also, the food was delicious, fresh, and the dessert was big hit among our guests. We had a lot of last minute changes and crazy weather the day before and day of the event but KMR Gourmet still did amazing and ensured our event went smoothly. Overall, we were very happy with our experience with KMR Gourmet and would 100% give our recommendation.

Ricki negotiated her price once we discussed I was only doing a reception and not a wedding ceremony. I didn't give her much time to plan the event, but she showed us multiple venues and we were very happy with our selection. Ricki also did her best to help us stay on budget, she found flowers for an amazing deal, she brought decorations from her house, and she with the sudden weather change she got sun umbrellas in the nick-of-time. She really worked her tail off! It was a great reception, exactly what my husband and I wanted.

Tania and her staff provided excellent service and a delicious menu for our daughter's 25th surprise birthday party. The venue was outstanding for our event but did present some challenges for Tania. They worked professionally to overcome them and did a fantastic job. Highly recommend Tania for any event! Thank you Tania!

I am a DJ and I have worked with many event planners over the years. Michelle is one of the very best! I find her to be very professional, knowledgable and always prepared. Weddings in particular can have unexpected moments and she handles them with grace and ease. She takes the time to make sure the events she manages are special, memorable and fun! She has a style of class and elegance - and she really seems to care that the clients are having a good time.

I reached out to Nicole and her team for a client who unfortunately fell through (their loss!). Nicole was very attentive, enthusiastic, and delivered in a timely manner. I hope to work with her and her team in the near future, as I was very excited to bring One Last Frog for this project.

Sherien was a pleasant and thoughtful professional. I never in my years saw such a detailed and hard worker as her. We hired her on for our sons wedding. It was a huge event with 400 people. We have huge family and so does the brides family. Everyone who came knew where to sit and most importantly what is going on. She conducted this wedding circus all so gracefully and with a smile none the less. I truly will use her every chance we get. Her back up plans were the most comforting and her execution was flawless. Thank you dear Anne H. Harbor

Working with British Inspired, this year for my daughters wedding has been a pure pleasure. The owner is a very personable, attentive and detail oriented. She is extremely experienced and diligent in making sure that your event according to your specifications and desired outcome. All without the high prices of the other and more commercial wedding planners. If I have any additional events or hear of anyone that is looking for an event planner, invitation designer and event decorator, I will not hesitate to recommend British Inspired.

Words can’t describe the services I received. I hired Two The T Events to plan a very special party for my 6-year old son's birthday party. My son wanted a Michael Jackson themed party equipped with a DJ, Michael Jackson performer, special lighting, great food and awesome desserts. Not only did the team deliver on the vision but kept me informed every step of the way. Every detailed was handled from the invites, amazing setup, catering to each guest as well as ensuring my son had the very best photographer who captured every moment with high quality photos. To this day, I still have family and friends talking about the party—including my son. The props from the party are still in his room! Also I want to stress, the food was beyond DELICIOUS---the menu was well planned with yummy a dessert bar. Shelbi had every detail handled. I did not have to worry about one thing. She has a great spirit, good judgment and a high level of expertise. If I ever have another party, I will not hesitate to hire this team again. It is so nice when you are connected with a good team and get exactly what you expected. Our memories from this party are positively etched in our minds forever. Thank you Two the T Events for your expertise and a job well done!

Steven helped us coordinate our daughter's wedding. He was superb. There are a million tiny details in even the simplest wedding. He had answers for things that in our lack of experience we didn't even realize might be questions. He is organized and thoughtful about how things should flow. He is just a consummate professional in all aspects of organizing an event. He was very sensitive to all special requests. He was very prompt in reply to all questions. People have said to us what a wonderful event our daughter's wedding was. Much of the credit for that belongs to Steven. My greatest wish for the wedding was that I be allowed to relax and enjoy the couple's happiness. Steven made that happen. He was a joy to work with.

By far the best event planner I've ever hired!!!! Veronica is a god send!!! I tend to be very demanding and particular individual and in the past other planners that claimed to be carreer professionals have always fallen short on delivering my needs and desires for how I envision my events look feel and more importantly how I expect my guests to feel during and at the end my events. When I hired Veronica to plan my wife's baby shower the pressure was on from day one. Its was my first baby and most importantly it was a surprise for my wife, so perfection was mandatory. When I met her for our first consultation I was blown away by how prepared she was with ideas as to how our baby shower could be. I fancy myself the creative type but Veronica is on a whole new level of creativity. She was able to invision my thoughts instantly and simultaniously recommend things that I hadn't even considered!!! Her eye for design is amazing!! Her understanding of color palettes, textures, and patterns are even more on point!! Her knowledge for lighting and sound distribution is something I hadn't even considered until I met her that brought a whole new demention to my events. And the flowers!!! OMG! The flowers were those of something from a fairytale!!! Her attention to detail was that of suitable to no less then royalty. I'm a bit of a control freak, but by the follow up consultation I was beyond confident that I had hired the perfect planner and did something I hardly do and that was let her plan every single aspect of my event. So the day came and what she delivered was beyond mine and my wife's fairytale dreams. My wife was so amazed by this wonderful surprise it brought tears to her eyes and the guest hadn't even arrived! Needles to say our guest were equally blown away! Endless compliments from all as to how lovely everything turned out to be! So now Veronica will be my go-too planner from this day forward and really excited for what she has in-store for our yearly corprate holiday party 2017, personal NYE party 2017, and our sons 1st Birthday party next year. And many more events to come! Veronica thank you sooo much for your grace and talen; you have made our specials events ULTRA SPECIAL!!

Kate had excellent ideas for my five year olds birthday party. She was quick respond and took the time to really think about what I needed. We didn't end up hiring her due to a change in the needs of the party, but her excellent customer service and creative ideas will bring me back to hire her for the next time I need an event planner!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

  • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
  • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
  • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
  • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
  • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
  • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.
