Introduction: Being a professional photographer means something to me. I am a think-on-my-feet creative with the experience to be the photographer for myriad photographic situations. I can shoot events, portraits, and even remain steadfast after shooting over 32,000 photos of runners in the New York Marathon. I’ve been a photographer for over 30 years, many of them as a news photojournalist, shooting sports, portraits, events, as well as being a college photojournalism instructor for ten years. I am flexible with my skills with a singular goal to see smiles of satisfaction from the people I photograph. I am available for any kind of photographic need, including on-location portraiture (families, graduate, corporate, sports, etc.), events (corporate, graduation parties, colleges, weddings, etc.), news, public relations, sports (leagues, portrait, action, teams), and product photography.

Photo Editing, Scanning and Restoration

I had two one hundred year old photos mounted on cardboard. One was broken in half. Mr. Berger repaired them and cleaned them, sent the originals backs to me and sent me photos via email to download and print. He took the time to explain every step and answered many of my questions along the way. I am fortunate to have found and worked with Mr. Berger.

Portrait Photography

Tim is incredibly responsive and prepared. Here's some competitive analysis: 1. # of Deliverables: he gave us hundreds of pictures in 2 hour frame. Usually most photographers on this platform only gives out 35-40 edited picture per hour. 2. Speed: He gave the photos to us a day after. That's wasn't essential to us, but if it is for you. Pick Tim, cuz usually most photographer need 3-5 days or 2 weeks. 3. Communication and punctuality: He was early even driving from Arcadia. And replied me when I double check with him a day prior. 4. Professionalism: He's ex LA Times Photographer and currently teaching at Pasadena college if I recall correctly. 5. Positive energy: He made us smile and laugh and the picture showed. 6. Equipment: He brought a lot of equipment and his own lighting. In case you're indoors, pick Tim 7. COVID ready: He's also vaccinated so he can go indoors with us for our civil ceremony. 8. Willingness to work with your demand: I had a lot of ideas of how I wanted to frame each pictures. Tim took them all in. I think I'm missing a couple things. But we're picking Tim for our next event too.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The prices you see are what I believe is fair compensation for a photographer who has the skills. The photographic categories you see in my profile, such as weddings and events, portraits, corporate, real estate, etc. are all strengths of mine and I assure you that hiring me will yield results that you will truly appreciate. However, if there is a quote you see from me that exceeds your expectations, I encourage you to reach out to me to discuss options. My phone number, that I include in my initial response, is my cell phone and you can call or text me.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Formally, my training in photography started when I was a pre-teen when I sold enough boxes of chocolates to earn a point-and-shoot camera, my first ever camera. I’ve been involved with photography ever since, including photojournalism courses in college that lead me to my first job as a staff photographer for a newspaper. That started a career in photojournalism that lasted thirty years until the pandemic struck and closed the newspaper I worked at last. Currently, I teach photojournalism at a community college, and have started this freelance business on Thumbtack to share my robust experience with clients.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I first started selling my work in high school by taking advantage of enthusiastic students at a state basketball tournament by selling photomasks of the head coach for $1 each. From there, I’ve worked with event photo companies, portrait companies, commercial photographers, and as you have already read, newspapers. I’ve been published in a few magazines, like Newsweek, but my work has predominantly been published in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star-News, Los Angeles Times, Glendale News Press, Burbank Leader, and La Cañada Valley Sun.
