Concrete tile roof with a couple tiles completely gone and a dozen cracked. Responded within an hour to my call for help. Made an appointment to estimate job and showed up on time. Walked the roof thoroughly listing all damages in about 30-40 minutes, and gave me a very reasonable price quote I feel. Didn't try to up sell me. Got all the needed material together and knocked the job out in less than four hours. I've worked in construction and building and facilities maintenance for over forty years, and I can tell you these guys are expert, honest, open and straight forward. I highly recommend Alvarado Roofing Service for any roofing work you may need. Great price, great service, expert high quality results.

Had a lot of people give me estimates on replacing some fascia boards on my roof, but Hector's was the most realistic and reasonable. Came all the way from OC to LA to do the work, and went above and beyond what was agreed to in the written estimate. He needed to do some additional work, and agreed to come back and do it on another day and kept his promise. I will definitely use him for any roofing needs in the future

We hired Excel Construction to remodel our Kitchen and master Bathroom. Eyal our project manager was helpful and useful during the whole remodeling process. The quality of the cabinets, flooring, paint and more… s very high and we are very satisfied with the complete remodeling project. Eyal was very creative and after all the meetings that we had, he provided us with a printed estimate that included a timeline, price breakdown and total price with focusing on each stage of the process. All the issues that came up during the remodeling, Eyal handled them in a timely manner and solved them. The remodeling project was completed on the date that he promised us. We love the new kitchen and master bathroom and are very happy with the new design and results that Excel Construction delivered us.

These guys know what they are doing and worked very hard each and every day they where here on our property. The company even supplied a porta potty for the men so they did not have to use our facility in our house. We are very thankful we chose Berry to do the work as they where the best in every way. Tom is a gem! He immediately responded to my request for roof maintenance work & quoted a price that seemed too good to be true. The other quotes I had received were 25-50% higher. So I suggested that he come out and look at the roof just to be sure. He showed up right on time and was very personable & knowledgeable. He explained what needed to be done, what materials he would be using, and the price was exactly the same as he had originally quoted. So I asked him when he could do the job and he said he could do it right then & there. He had all the materials he needed on the truck & his crew was working on a large re-roof job, so he said he would do it himself. I received a professional invoice after he completed the work with before and after pictures. The quality of the work was top notch. What a great find. I highly recommend Tom Parks & TWP Roofing!

I called Miguel on Saturday. He went out to my rental property and gave me fair estimate. We agreed on price and he started the same day. The job was completed the next day on Sunday. He kept me informed throughout the job and sent me pictures with his iphone. The job came out great. Miguel did outstanding work and would highly recommend him. I will definitely call him for other properties I own for my roofing needs.

I was ready for some remodeling in my home. My kitchen needed an update and so did a few of the bathrooms. Searching google I found GIM and saw that they did energy efficient remodeling and upgrades. I contacted GIM and set an appointment for a consultant to come by to show me some options. The consultant showed us many samples of flooring, tile, roofing, painting, and multiple other products they offered. They even had their own architect to take care of the drawings for me and also had a 3d design for the kitchen. All the work was done properly and my home was left clean everyday. Appreciate all the hard work.

Those guys are wonderful. As a real estate agent, I called them to give my buyer an estimate for a complete remodeling of the property. They gave us a detailed scope of job. After they completed the remodeling of the kitchen, bathroom, roof, flooring and paint, my buyer sold the house for a huge profit. Thank you so much Dan.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
