Pete is an outstanding dog trainer. We only needed one lesson and he showed me what I need to do to get my dog to walk without pulling, stay in her bed for an extended period of time and to calm down when people come over. He showed me and left it up to me to practice the exercises with her. She has really improved and now the walks are enjoyable for both of us. I highly recommend Pete and his services. He even read my 2 year old grandaughter a book when we were done!
Courtney is an excellent dog trainer. Our puppy and we have learned so much from her - she focuses on great modeling and positive reinforcement and her enthusiasm and professionalism are ever present. I have recommended Courtney to others and will continue to do so. She is excellent.
We love Tammy ! We have a 2-year old Aussie with pretty serious issues regarding: charging at the door barking (scaring guests), barking at random noises, biting (yikes! but yes.. many times to even friends and family), and leash aggression. We had 2 trainers before. One was at the prestigious Cali-K9 which was like training your dog to almost be like a police dog with a lot of consequences including pulling very hard on the chain where they want his two front feet to literally be lifted ( we didn't want to do this at all .. but we trusted them because of their amazing reviews )..this caused our anxious pup to become a very anxious dog, esp. to strangers... we then went with another trainer from Pet Food Express who was purely positive reinforcement. Here, she had him locked away in the room for months without social interaction in order to try to desensitize him and slowly introduce him back to people and triggers. THIS DID NOT WORK. If anything, his habits got worse and we forgot what it was like to even have a dog anymore :( We reached a very sad point, full of tears, where we discussed the fact that we might have to give him away but we decided maybe board & train was the next step. There are articles out there saying this method is not suggested because it might not be long lasting, or maybe the dog might just listen to the trainer and not you. Anyways, we came across Tammy and at first was very hesitant. As a millennial couple both working in high-tech.. we were killing ourselves over online research. Thumbtack wasn't a service I ever used before so I trusted other sites like Yelp & Facebook which Tammy didn't have too much of a presence on :( We did a bunch of research and even paid $100 for a consultation with Lori Hamilton - but it didn't feel right.. but she was still on our radar as another top option. When we met Tammy, she seemed incredibly sweet, genuine, & honest. As she is going full-time as a dog trainer, I knew she was going to treat our dog Finn as an individual and not just a number or revenue. She truly cared about his life and happiness. Eventually we made the decision to go with Tammy, reason being is because we know not everyone is as tech-savvy and we went with social media all-stars like Cali-K9 before which didn't go well.. so we couldn't judge a trainer just based on online presence. When we got Finn back from Board & Train you could tell how much he adored her. It was crazy! When she walked away he locked his eyes and body towards her. When she comes for our trainings now, our dog throws his body on her and rubs himself missing her. This is how I know she spent a lot of time with him instead of just shipping him off, and crossing our fingers that Finn was getting the training attention he needs. Forward 2 months, Finn is not perfect but he is x10 more manageable and we know what to do if he reacts in any way. He now goes to work with my boyfriend as an office pup, we aren't scared to take him downtown, he rarely barks at the Amazon dude (this could be fixed very fast before it happens). My boyfriend and I are so happy we went with Tammy now! She is the most patient person ever and I am so excited to have her integrated in our lives. She has helped us find so much different solutions regardless if its testing individual techniques or even supplements to help with Finn's anxiety. The greatest gift she gave us is the confidence that we are a great dog owner and that we also have the greatest dog! Put time and effort in your dog & Tammy will always do the same! We are continuing to board with Tammy when we go on vacations, so our relationship will definitely continue for a long time <3 (:
Logan is a GREAT trainer for Humans!!!! His gift for handling and training my new Family member Beala (dog) is inspiring. Thank you Logan
Les is fantastic! He is truly dedicated and passionate about the services he provides. Not only is he a great trainer and dog walker companion, his pet delivery service is perfect for anyone in need of a drop off or pick up that just doesn't work in your schedule. I highly recommend giving him a shot, you will NOT be disappointed!
My Newfypoo pup Jelly Bean is a handful, especially considering I have never had a dog before. I was fortunate enough to stumble on John Vinton's site, after being dropouts from Sirius group puppy training. His technique is unique as he does not advocate stuffing the dog with never ending treats. Instead, consistent reinforcement of commands accompanied with appropriate overwhelming praise when deserved. We're only 3 lessons in. I am so proud of my Bean, especially when compared to other dogs we meet on our walks. We both still have a lot to learn and with the help of "A Better Dog Trainer" I know we'll be successful.
There is nothing more telling about a dog trainer than the observable relationship he has with his dog. Jorge strives for excellence in his training, and his dogs are happy, and better for it. He knows how to set limits, and how to motivate, how to reward in a meaningful way. He can prepare you and your dog for the ring, or give your dog a new perspective on behavior. As a groomer, he is knowledgeable about breed standards, and he will make your dog look like he or she is ready for Westminster or Crufts! He also explains to you what he is doing to give the dog 'that' look. It is worth your time to look into his services if you need a trainer or groomer.
Susan is a truly wonderful dog trainer! She is incredibly knowledgeable and thinks of things from the dog's perspective. She is very patient (both with us and our pup) and has tons of great insights and ideas. She is really dedicated to helping us create a great relationship with our pup, and I highly recommend her!
Debbie is AMAZING! She walks or takes my dogs to the dog park 2 times a week and shes amazing. My dogs LOVE her. I usually get text message updates or pictures and she is always so fast to respond via text! Couldn't do it without her!
Jackie is a very talented dog trainer. She is at the same time sweet and strong. She teaches at the same time the dogs and the owners. We highly recommend her.
Erika is absolutely amazing with my senior golden retriever. Hope loves Erika because she is loving, cautious and very observant of my dog's needs. I am very picky about who I allow to walk my dog due to her health concerns. Erika takes her time and makes sure that all of Hope's needs are taking care of including change of water, and cleaning up any of Hope's "you know what" on our patio. I cannot recommend this young lady enough. Her gracious and calm personality make her highly valuable. She is absolutely dependable and listens to all of the directives I gave her about Hope. Hire her, and do not let her get away, you will not be sorry.
Holly is an excellent dog trainer! She uses solid training methods to produce reliable results, no matter the behavior, breed, temperament, history, etc. Her training approach moves beyond correcting specific issues; instead she addresses the overall mindset of the dog to produce a calm, balanced and HAPPY dog, which then eliminates any and all behavior problems. That's what I call effective dog training! Beyond her skill with dogs, she is equally skilled with teaching people how to employ the training techniques. She is a joy to work with--she has a positive and supportive attitude, clear communication, and a genuine desire to help folks foster a desirable relationship with their dog(s). I have had the pleasure to work with Holly over the last several weeks to address my dog's leash reactivity and fear based dog aggression. In ONE session my dog was able to walk past several packs of dogs barking and lunging behind fences with no issue whatsoever. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes (and boy did my dog look proud of herself!)! We look forward to continuing our training with Holly so my dog can earn off leash privileges at dog beaches, camping, etc. If you are seeking a dog trainer, save yourself the trouble of looking elsewhere and start with Holly! You and your dog(s) will be glad you did.
great dog trainer!
Emily was amazing with Winston! I couldn't have asked for a better trainer for my puppy! In the 4 weeks of training he became a much more obedient and well mannered little pup. I am more than confident to recommend Emily and her training camp to whom ever needs an efficient and responsible trainer.
Christina was great with my dog. They went on an hour walk and he came home and was ready for a nap. She made him a friend for life with treats. She will be coming back again this week.
Krystal is amazing! I never let my dogs out of my sight and I feel comfortable with her taking them anytime!! THANK YOU KRYSTAL
Lisa is a wonderful trainer and dog walker. She is knowledgeable about dog behavior and what works well. Lisa trained our dog for obedience commands and everyone raves about how well behaved our little guy is. I'd recommend Lisa highly. Our little one loves her.
Heather helped with obedience training my beagle, who is very stubborn. They did verbal commands, leash training, house training and manners, and Heather has had a lasting positive influence on my dog. She is very professional and thorough, and she brings real experience and methodology to create a personalized training outline, which helps maintain the behaviors. 10/10, would recommend again.
