FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $30/hr for private ESL classes. Some clients desire coaching for job interviews and presentations. The cost is $50/hr. Editing documents is $40 per hour. My basic $30/hr is a low fee and has not changed in the last decade, therefore I don't discount the rate. My free classes are reserved for non-profit volunteering.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson includes intake and evaluation. The client presents their own evaluation of their needs and their English fluency goals. Through casual conversation I can analyze their strengths and weaknesses. Together we can agree on priorities and develop a plan for improvement and fluency. I also want to know the client's situation in terms of work, family, education, schedule, etc, so I can better understand their context and help them in a way that is most relevant and individualized for them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's Degree and 20 years experience in corporate communications. I am certified in ESL and have been an instructor for over a decade. I have taught students from over 20 countries and I have taught in Mexico. My students have included business people, visiting professors, nannies, carpenters, artists, therapists, scientists, economists, accountants, and designers. I don't teach children, except when volunteering in schools.
