About this pro
Shannon has a rare gift as a counselor as she is able to combine good practical advice with an empathic, sensitive presence. She combines a scientific and intuitive approach in her work. Her use of metrics to provide demonstrable results provides an experimental and empirical grounding to counseling that is rarely found in the field. She has a knowledge of the lifestyle factors that lead to anxiety and depression such as diet and sleep as well as the ability to use techniques such as Internal Family Systems to work with parts of the psyche. I chose to work with Shannon at a difficult time in my life because I felt that her compassion combined with her intuitive skills would be able to help me and help me quickly. I am a therapist myself and I am very choosy in who I work with. I have also referred people to Shannon for that reason. I would definitely recommend her services.May 4, 2014

Shannon Avana is the most competent and efficient therapist I've ever had the pleasure to work with. She's passionate, compassionate, competent. She listens to you, not with jaded tiredness, but with an intense interest that brings out things from you that you didn't even know you kept, all the while keeping you on track with a methodic, systematic approach.Apr 27, 2014

- What types of customers have you worked with?I help my clients improve their professional lives. In some cases that's helping people move from their current job to their dream job. In other cases its simply being able to get and hold down a job at all. I've also helped many struggling grad and college students make it through to get their degrees. I help my clients with life concerns, such as improving their relationships with significant others, parents, children and friends. In general, I would say that I help people identify what they most want in life and to get it - this can be financial freedom, creative outlet, companionship, security, a feeling of contribution to the world, among many other such possibilities.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Look at results. A coach who is willing to talk about results is more likely to deliver them. Trust your intuition. Find someone who you enjoy talking to, trust, and who inspires you.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?I wish more people realized how effective and useful it is! I've helped several people get their dream jobs, fix their relationships and get rid of crippling anxiety. These sorts of results can be near priceless depending on how badly the client wants them.
