beginning music lessons
Started going for violin lessons (I'm in my 20's with no music background). Had only a couple of classes so far. I really like the pace and her style of teaching. She is professional and very easy to work with.
Kelly is an amazing teacher. 100% on time and sometimes even goes over time just to make sure that I had fun and know what to practice on my own. He's patient, engaging and really friendly. I am 31 yr old and I do not feel embarrassed at all hitting all the wrong keys in front of Kelly. Best piano teacher there is out there! I would recommend him to my family and friends.
Fantastic player, even better teacher. Dylan can play any style and can teach as much music theory as you want, but also has no problem learning a song by ear and teaching it to you 5 minutes later. Want to learn a song note by note, while perfecting every technique used along the way? Yep, can do that too. Lessons are as intense or as relaxed as suits your style. Highly recommend.
It has been 20 years since I last took piano lessons and had to start almost from the beginning again. Very happy to have found Miles, whose knowledge and ability to impart it simply and concisely is excellent. I am gently challenged while still having fun, which is the perfect combination. Looking forward to my own progress with his guidance!
These were my first voice lessons ever. Lessons are fun. Deborah has lots of helpful advice and encouragement.
Dave was very responsive when I was trying to set up lessons for my granddaughter. She is loving taking lessons from him! He is very encouraging and tailors the lessons to the music she likes.
Jimmy is an excellent piano teacher! He is so patient with my 8 year old son! I highly recommend him if you are interested in piano lessons!
Mrs Martinez has been a huge help for me. I've been wanting to learn the piano for the longest time and I could not have chosen a better teacher. She's very caring, kind, well informed, patient, and encouraging. When I'd get frustrated in having trouble going through a certain piece, she would slow it down and take it step by step, all while being very patient. Doing so helped me tremendously and continue using the advice she's given me. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to take piano. My lessons with her were truly the highlight of my week. :)
As a student composer, I took private lessons with Dr. Ciach in both music composition and electronic music synthesis. I have to say that they were some of the most rewarding and educational lessons I have ever taken. Dr. Ciach is perfect at offering the perfect direction to your compositions without taking away from your own personal artistic voice and character. His breadth of knowledge and deep compositional understand make for one of the best mentors I have ever experienced. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in studying music composition.
Scott was a great instructor for my son and he learned alot. They were able to connect on composers and had my son playing music that he generally enjoyed as well as taught him great fundamentals. Scott was extremely patient and flexible which was very helpful when working with a 6 year old.
I have been taking harp lessons with Diana over the past few years. Diana is such an inspiring instructor that I travel almost 60-90 minutes each way to go to her class. She is the most caring, fully present and motivating instructor who listens, tailors her method toward the student's interests and skills that makes the whole learning experience a true joy! She has her own magical and unique way to get the pure musical interest out of the student to help him/her practice and meanwhile enjoy music! She is always available on email to answer any additional questions and sends music materials to enhance the learning experience. Her music background is also very international which makes this teaching/learning a very special experience. I consider myself very lucky to find her as my music instructor!
I learned a lot from these music lessons, and I have come a long way from when I first started taking lessons. I can really notice the improvement, in the way I sound and the advanced techniques I am using to play. Furthermore, Rob is a very kind and patient teacher, who will do whatever it takes to help his students succeed. I would recommend taking lessons from Rob to any level guitar player, who wants to learn how to play or improve his/her knowledge of music.
I studied advanced theory and composition with Alden two years ago and feel like I really grew musically. I'm a self-taught pianist with little knowledge of theory, and Alden was able to create a custom course for me that took into account the musical knowledge I already had put couldn't put into language. He created theory exercises for me and taught me advanced harmony, we also analyzed pieces by a variety of composers which allowed me to integrate new vocabulary into my own music. I thoroughly recommend him as a teacher both in composition and music theory!
Ben is an amazing teacher -- clearly knows his stuff but is happy to pare it down to your skill level and goals. His is a patient and thoughtful teacher who doesn't just stick to the book, but also teaches improvisational and music theory skills along hte way. Highly recommended.
Marc LeGrand is an excellent pedagogue and performer. He brings a contagious passion to everything he does. His drive is only matched by his professionalism, preparedness, and sheet talent. You can expect from him music of the highest quality and a genuinely warm personality.
Very informative, this guy knows his stuff. Was an easy match. He lined right up with my skill level and we started working from there. Was very impressed with his ability to adapt. Highly recommended!
Have you ever wanted to sit down at a piano and entertain someone by playing and singing a song? Have you ever wanted to just sing or just play? I have a student-centered approach, which involves being attentive to how the person learns and the caring for focus of their intentions -- what they hope to learn. I've been teaching private guitar lessons 'formally' since 2001, shortly after graduating from the Musicians Institute's professional guitar and recording arts programs. During the last six years, I have also been an instructor of music theory for audio engineering students as well as for students of psychoacoustics at the Globe Institute in San Francisco. This is college-level music theory presented in a condensed format with specific applications in mind. Myriads of nationalities, cultures, ages, genders and musical backgrounds accompany the people who make up those classes, and they have helped me develop the skill for relating this material to all manner of people simultaneously. As a result, my one-on-one classes are even more enriched. My goal is to help you reach your goals in the most simple and joyful manner. The basics of what I offer are as follows: * Guitar -- Most Styles, Beginner and Intermediate * Recording Software -- Logic, Ableton, Native Instruments, Etc. * Music Theory -- Beginner and Intermediate * Ear Training * Composition * Songwriting * Audio Engineering/Production -- Beginner * Inner Music Theory -- A Psychoacoustic/Sound Healing Approach * Piano -- Beginner I also offer a generalized musician package in which any or all of what I teach is thoughtfully organized for your goals. Included are basic vocal coaching, percussion rudiments and loads of other pertinent basics.
I teach bassoon, music theory, and composition lessons to students of all ages. I have a degree in music education, composition, and bassoon performance from the University of Cincinnati (College-Conservatory of Music) and a master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in composition. Please see my website for more information about my teaching philosophies.
I teach each student to their specific needs and style. I teach with a very comfortable and laid back method but also structure and discipline. I teach guitar and mandolin mainly, of all styles and levels. I also can teach banjo, bass guitar, piano and ukelele; but these instruments are limited to beginner and intermediate levels and all styles. I teach out of tall toad music and the phoenix theatre in Petaluma, CA. Contact me for prices and open dates and times! Cheers!
