I have been taking piano lessons from Kevin for 2 years. I took piano as a child for many years, but never learned about music theory, and how to put music theory into practice. Kevin is a fantastic teacher and a fantastic person. He is clear and helpful, and gives constructive criticism in an extremely positive way. For me, he was really able to figure out exactly what I wanted (want) to learn and my lessons have been fun and exciting and just pure pleasure. There is nothing that could have been better (except that I could have practiced more!). And as an adult I have tried other teachers, because I felt I knew what I wanted to learn and was eager to get back to piano. But it was never what I wanted. Then I heard Kevin teaching across the street through an open window. I could tell even than that he was the teacher I had been looking for, and I was right! Just the best!!!

Kevin is a great teacher--with high standards but always making it fun and motivating the students to do well and continue with lessons. He does this by letting the student select music that interests them, and in the case of my children, teaching voice along with piano so that they could learn how to accompany themselves. Kevin also encourages his kids to be creative-from making up their own sentence to go along with the notes on the treble clef at the beginning, to writing their own drills or songs later on. Under his tutelage, support, and cheerleading, my kids have become accomplished musicians that will have a life-long love of piano and voice. My husband has taken lessons this year, and Kevin has adapated his instructional style to be appropriate for an adult who already reads music and plays the guitar. They have had a great deal of fun together. Finally, I've appreciated Kevin's warmth, humor, and love of life that have infused our house every Monday afternoon for the last five years.

Kevin has taught my daughter since she was 4. We had her take a year off (she was over-scheduled) and she begged to start piano with Kevin again. He is patient but tough. He knows my daughter's skill level and doesn't let her skate by. Together they choose music she wants to play. He encourages her to compose her own songs, which she can do because he's taught her the skills. Our lives have been enriched by having Kevin as our piano teacher. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a teacher (and I do!).

Kevin had been a fabulous piano teacher to my 2 boys over the past 7+ years. He has been a very important part of their musical education. He has done a unique job at finding music and ways to keep them interested in piano and is a very dedicated teacher.
