I have been taking private yoga lessons with Julie for almost 2 years and have no regrets other than I do not have the time to increase the frequency of my appointments. Upon my arrival we take time to warm-up with stretching, converse to help transition and become settled and to learn where I am coming from and what I desire to learn during the session. I offer affordable private lessons in a peaceful studio just off Solano Ave., in Albany, CA. I teach an alignment-based Hatha Yoga which emphasizes the correct alignment of the body with the help of props, so that everyone, regardless of age, size, ability, or experience can safely enjoy and benefit from the practice of Yoga. My private sessions are available by appointment on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday, and I invite you to experience a first-time, one hour private for $30. If you would like to continue with private sessions on a regular basis, the cost for a weekly session is $35 a class ($140 a month), for two classes a month it is $45 a class ($90 a month), and for one class a month it is $55. I also teach ongoing Hatha Yoga classes at Empty Gate Zen Center in Berkeley, at Vara Healing Arts in Albany, and at Ojas Yoga Center in El Cerrito. I am a graduate of the Advanced Studies Program at The Yoga Room in Berkeley, a three-year, 1000-hour course with exceptional teachers such as Donald Moyer, Mary Lou Weprin and Gay White, who all received their training from B.K.S. and Geeta Iyengar in India. Today, I continue my studies with Donald Moyer, author of Yoga: Awakening the Inner Body. Iyengar yoga classes are methodical and a sequential practice. In an Iyengar class, you could expect to focus on the details and correct alignment in postures, use of props to enable the students to deepen their experience in the poses safely, and usually a strong standing pose sequence. Standing poses are the foundation to the Iyengar method and students continue to practice them at every level.
