I had a backyard pond & statue removed. Matt and I met first to go over the job. He called to confirm he was coming at the time we had set up and arrived on time. He removed it in less time than anticipated (it was hard work as it was concrete). He went about it in a logical and methodical way and was careful not to make a giant mess in the yard, and remained mindful of the plants nearby. He made it seem so easy, I wish I had done this years ago. I learned Matt is a carpenter as well and I would definitely hire him again.

Level dirt, retaining wall, & concrete. Benito's team did a good job, finished as plan, and would hire to do another job.

Gustavo and his crew (Edgar and Arman) did a great job of repairing the concrete deck around my pool. They were on-time, clean, and hardworking; not to mention doing a much better job than expected for a very fair price. I would definitely use them again if I had other jobs to do (and I think I will).

We needed a wooden deck and concrete patio slab demolished and hauled away. Bogdan's price was excellent and his work superb. He showed up on time, communicated information clearly and timely, and was very courteous. I was especially impressed with his clean up, he hardly left a mess and took the time to make sure there were no stray bits of concrete out on the street. I was very impressed.

Richard helped me design and remodel some features of my home before selling. Richard has a great eye for design and is able to construct as well. Richard and his team poured a new (black) concrete driveway, built me a new lateral cedar stained fence and painted the exterior of my home navy blue. This lead to a quick sale above asking, Thanks!

Tui and his son were amazing! I needed an immediate job done cutting out a large slab of concrete. They were able to come after hours and were done in less than an hour. The cut was perfect and they were very professional and nice. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Angel and his crew made two pillars and four below-ground concrete pylons as footing for a 4-legged gazebo to straddle a circular pavilion in my backyard. His crew also poured a 7’ x 2’ concrete slab in our side yard to function as a grill parking spot. Angel had car trouble the first day, which delayed the start of work to two days later than we had agreed on. His crew spread the work over three evenings, delaying another crew's start date for assembly of the gazebo by two days. The posted rate for Angel's work was $45/hour. When the work was finished, Angel presented me with a bill that would have charged $40 an hour for each of his crew's 5 laborers. Angel may be an engineer worth $45 an hour, but someone digging a hole for concrete does not earn $40 an hour, so we renegotiated. Angel received $45/hour, and each of his workers earned $20/hour. We declined to pay for hours when multiple workers were present, but only one of them was working, since the others were just waiting for Angel to arrive. In addition to wages and materials, we paid $150 for gas. Angel would have spent less on gas, if the work had been concentrated into fewer days, which I would have preferred. The end result is: the anchors are level. The two front pillars have air pockets as large as 0.5" h x 2.5" in the sides, indicating the cement wasn’t packed down well. (I will use filler to get a smooth surface, after which paint will be necessary to hide the filler.) The work started late, was spread over too many days, and the concrete pillars should not have the air pockets they have. On the up side, I appreciated how clean the worksite was when Angel finished. He also gave me a few expert answers to questions I had about other potential concrete projects. Angel is polite and knowledgeable. Even so, it is important to be very specific with your timeline, cost expectations, and aesthetics up front.

Kris responded promptly to my project request. And even though we decided to move forward with a wooden retaining wall, instead of a concrete wall, he offered great advice on how to improve the waterproofing and longevity of the wood wall. I appreciate his professionalism and wouldn’t hesitate to contact Kris for future home improvement projects.

My husband and I are re landscaping our front and back yards. We hired Philli to clean up the yards so we could have a blank slate to work off of. Philli and his brother worked incredibly hard removing a large concrete patio, metal fence, and many plants including a large walnut tree. Not only did they do a great job with a competitive price for their services, they were also such nice and genuine people to work with and talk to. Highly recommend!

Marco did an amazing job. If I could give Marco 7 stars I would. Marco and his team repaired and replaced 27 sidewalk squares, marked by the city. Marco came out and gave me a quote the very next day. He was very clear with his costs and never charged me anything extra. He even pointed out a few squares the inspector had missed and provided a way to fix them. As soon as the rains broke (he was monitoring this) he and his team came out and cut and removed the old concrete. They were efficient (dumping truck arriving on time with additional help crew to clear site) and worked very safely ( clearly marking sidewalk and using parking permit signs). They completed all the prep and setup by early afternoon. The concrete pumping truck visited and they took another 2 hours to lay down the new concrete and level things out nicely. The next day Marco visited early in the morning (~6 am) to remove the barriers from parts that had set well. My neighbor who also had to get their sidewalk repaired decided to use Marco for their sidewalk too, and Marco completed their work in parallel. Thanks Marco and team!

David and his crew did a fine job replacing our old front sidewalk. David is easy to work with, understood immediately what we needed done. I've done minor concrete work myself when I was younger, so I know what is involved, and I was pleased with the efficiency and worksmanship. The only minor glitch was a minor lack of communication about when the last phase of the work would be completed, I would have appreciated an extra phone call or e-mail when David got delayed. Still, I'll be contacting David if we need concrete or landscaping work in the future.

"Wow!" doesn't say enough. I was in good hands with Danny and his crew! He worked with me and my hectic schedule and his workers were very professional. Thanks to his knowledge and great attention to detail my office floor turned out beautifully! The polished concrete is a great alternative to hardwood flooring and I couldn't have chosen a better company for the job.

Mostly good work, slightly dissappointd that wood edge keeping the new asphalt in place has a gap where they were a few inches short of the PT wood backing edge. later, in rains this small area will begin to break up for lack of solid edge. Otherwise, Job is well done, and the cost was 30% above other estimates.. But the vendor seemed knowledgable, was punctual, and did 95% as agreed. I would recommend, and verify after the completion.

Roy Spulding was outstanding! he was very responsive and professional in our initial contacts, provided a bid that was between $1300 and $2300 LOWER than others and, with his assistant, Brian, did a superb job. Everything was as promised in terms of timeliness and quality and Roy was charming and appreciative.

Deserves 10 stars! Simote and crew are the best. Very professional, ethical and best of all very skilled and knowledgeable. He made my 60+ year old exterior concrete stairs look like they were brand new. We started out with the idea of replacing the stair, but Oakland permit requirements made it cost prohibitive. So he figured out another long lasting alternative which worked out well.

Esaiasi "Joe" Piutau and his crew at Abacus Concrete just completed a very detailed job at our home in April 2016. Joe coordinated his crew, concrete delivery, and pumper truck arrival efficiently. They finished the job in three days with beautiful results and no complications. Joe has years of experience as a contractor and concrete quality inspector. We highly recommend Abacus Concrete.

AK concrete and landscaping did a great job on my block retaining wall and stump removal. The owner, "Lucky" as he likes to be called, goes out of his way to make the experience easy, expeditious and works well within the budget of his customers. He is extremely conscientious, honest and personable. I really enjoyed working with him.
