About
I teach fun, personalized guitar lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, and I've been at it since 2011. Choosing the right teacher for yourself or your child can potentially make the difference between a weekly obligation and a meaningful learning experience that can enrich your life!
I graduated the Berklee College of Music in 2011 with a degree in Guitar Performance and have been teaching music lessons and classes ever since. My expertise include guitar and bass instruction in music theory, songwriting, improvisation (soloing) and ear training. I also have a strong knowledge of music genres, mostly specializing in rock and metal, but also including pop, fusion and funk. My career working in bands and as a touring artist also allows me to offer insight into the music industry for those looking to pursue music professionally!
I always meet my students where they're at and endeavor to teach them the specific skills they wish to improve upon. For some, that means being able to strum through their favorite songs around a campfire. For others it means building a firm understanding of fretboard mechanics and using music theory to compose songs and solos to record with their band. Wherever you are in your music journey, I'm here to help guide and expand your knowledge with fun and encouraging lessons. Let's get rockin!

I'd been learning some basics on my own for about 7 months before hitting a wall where I knew I needed actual feedback and guidance from someone who knew what they were doing.
I've only had 4 lessons with Alon so far, but I can already feel & hear the improvements across my practice sessions because of the clear instruction and exercises he's given me, and I'm excited for when it'll come time to delve into more music theory and songwriting. I'm confident he'll help me learn the skills to lay a solid foundation for my long-term goals, as long as I'm putting in the practice. :)
Alon is knowledgeable and incredibly talented, personable, and has been stellar in accommodating my limited availability for lessons due to my day job. He's put a lot of my worries at ease, and I appreciate I know I can reach out between lessons if I'm struggling or have questions.

Coming from someone who had zero guitar experience, Alon took the time to ensure I learn all of the necessities of play guitar. I learned chords, guitar anatomy, and even got to playing my first song within lesson 2. He is fantastic teacher and takes the time to explain thoroughly and will repeat things as many times as you want until it sticks. He sends detailed email recaps after each lesson and is available via phone/email post lesson. Highly recommend Alon for beginners and anyone in between!

Alon is a great guitar teacher. He is well versed in music theory and the instrument. His lessons are fun and effective. He always emails the week’s tasks and practices afterwards. He is also there if you need anything between practice. I’m 46 years old and just picked the electric guitar up. In less than a month he’s got me alternate picking and playing the pentatonic scale to back tracks.

I had a great experience learning from Alon. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and always punctual for every lesson. His attitude is positive and encouraging, which makes learning feel comfortable and motivating.
What I appreciated most was how attentive he was during our sessions. He really takes the time to make sure you understand the material and explains things in a way that is clear and easy to follow. If something doesn’t click right away, he patiently approaches it from another angle until it makes sense.
Overall, he is an excellent teacher who genuinely cares about helping his students improve. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn guitar or take their playing to the next level.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge $55/half hour, $75/forty-five minutes and $95/hour. I do charge an additional fee for in-home lessons depending on the length of the commute.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first priority is to meet the student where they're at. First lessons usually involve some preliminary assessment and then formulating a strategy for ensuring the student is learning the kind of material that interests them and gets their playing to where they want it to be in order to meet their musical goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began playing guitar at the age of 9 and percussion a few years later. I've been playing music professionally since the age of 16, and in 2011 received my degree in Guitar Performance from the Berklee College of Music.
Since moving to LA, I've continued teaching in addition to recording and playing locally, nationally and internationally with bands ranging from heavy metal to pop to fusion and more.
