I’ve worked with several other singing coaches in the past, but always had problems taking my singing skills to a more professional level. After just 2 months of working with April, however, I already saw significant growth. What makes April stand out is that she has incredibly sharp ears. With her expertise, she can pin-point the cause of any obstacle immediately and offer specific exercises to target the problem. April helps students build good habits and develop a well-rounded understanding of how voice works with our body. Let's just start with the important bit: I think April is an excellent voice teacher. I had no experience or talent for singing when I started with April about 16 months ago, but I wanted to find out if I could at least sing a little, with some training. It looks like I am going to be able to do that, but with better technique and with a greater variety of music than I originally thought possible. Under her guidance, my pitch accuracy, power, clarity, diction, and tone have all improved a lot. Her lessons and exercises are targeted toward developing the vocal technique without a lot of extra, possibly confusing stuff - which works very well with me, and I imagine a lot of other people too. April's experience and teaching technique are effective, and my experience with her shows that she can really teach anyone to sing!

Lessons with April have been fantastic. You can truly tell that she has a passion for music, singing and teaching. I started lessons to improve my singing and after a few weeks I could already see a big improvement. I would highly recommended her classes to anyone looking to take their singing to another level.

April is a GREAT vocal coach! She has a unique and exciting approach to singing. Not only has she developed a great program, but she strives to insure that her students are able to understand and apply concepts and techniques. She provides reliable feedback that allows students of all levels to grow. Her encouragement and teaching have given me the confidence to sing in front of others, which had always been a struggle for me. FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We set up a trial session and I ask the singer to show me what they have learned in singing. I'll have them sing something for me. If you are not an experienced singer, we start from the very beginning and I'll give you things to work on at home and try in your next session if you choose to continue.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
This has been my full-time job for over 12 plus years as a voice teacher/coach and piano teacher. I train 8 to 12 singers a day almost 6 days a week. I have a degree in Vocal Performance from Azusa Pacific University. I am a Choir Consultant to many showchoirs including the #1 Showchoir in the country, John Burroughs High School. I am a signed recording artist with Del Oro Music and have recorded, traveled, and performed. I continue to perform. I've directed original musicals and I do 2 showcases each year to give my singers opportunities to perform in a professional setting with lights, professional sound, and video.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began singing when I was 9 years old. I listened to my mom's records from back in the day like Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and I sang to these artists everyday. I always performed in choirs, church, school, and in musicals. In college I changed my degree to music because business and finance didn't inspire me. I am inspired by seeing other singers improve.
