Dean provided a home inspection when we were in escrow to buy an older home. Dean was exceptionally professional and explained his observations as he inspected the home. From the moment I spoke with Michael at Napa Valley Home Inspections I gained a sense of confidence in my choice to inquire about his services. He greeted me with courtesy and listened well to my needs. That courtesy extended to his promptness with meeting me at the job and his friendly demeanor. I was very impressed by his thorough approach as he left no stone unturned during the inspection. He was open to discussing his findings and my concerns through the entire process. The report came the following day as promised and again I was impressed by the quality and thoroughness. There were photos corresponding to each bullet point. Michael has made himself available for anything further I needed. Great follow through on all promises. The value that I received truly surprised me. I’ve had “home inspections” before that were simply superficial and lackluster. This was certainly not that. Mr. Alm was referred to us by Coldwell Banker Realtors in Napa Valley to inspect a potential new home to purchase in Napa we were considering. The home was in the $2m to $3m range. It was presented by the seller's realtor as almost new construction, in excellent condition, and a recent (8 month old) pest report's recommendations were 100% taken care of. We wanted to verify and check that report out, and review all other systems and appliances, roof, retaining walls, foundation, etc. of the property. Dean was very professional, thoroughly reviewed the prior pest report and check all finding listed. We were there with him and he clearly explained what and why he was doing on every step of his investigation. Needless to say, he discovered that none of the prior pest report recommendations/fixes were made. He noted a number of other problem areas, provide both text and pictures to document his findings and did this all within 3 days. He subsequently got a mold inspection and roofer inspection scheduled, and even found a high-end construction firm (with no financial relationship to him, as he proudly stated, thus his services are unbiased to any repairs) to make an estimate of the costs to repair all damages. He communicates by phone, text and email regularly and thus has keep us daily informed of his next steps. He is excellent!Jan 3, 2017
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am constantly taking classes with PG&E or Internachi or the American Home Inspector training Institute. My business has evolved to include energy audits. Education is the only way to add value to what you do as a Certified Home Inspector. With no licencing requirement in California this is a critical part of confirming yourself as a professional home inspector.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?In college I worked on various urban renewal and neighborhood revitalization research projects and got hooked on real estate. I have been involved in the redevelopment of all types of real estate for close to 30 years now. I take great pride in helping people make wise choices when it comes to investing in Real property of all types, residential and commercial.
- What types of customers have you worked with?Bank owned properties sold "as is". you may not want it at any price!
