Hired Lopez painting to paint my dads home - living room, dining room, hallway and bedroom were painted. Neri and team did an awesome job!!! They arrived early, and finished on time. All was on budget. Lopez painting knows their craft - they're excellent painters. I highly recommend them, and plan to hire them for future paint jobs.

My experience with Fredy and his painters was great. Fredy is incredibly professional and responsible. He was available and responsive via text to confirm the work and communicate leading up to and during the work being done. He gave me the best quote for the work, and the job was completed on time. I was clear that I didn't need the walls repaired to perfection or sanded, etc. So the quality of the job reflects that - some spots were certainly repaired, and those were done well. There is one section of one of the rooms that doesn't look like it got a second coat of paint. There was also a small change based on a miscommunication -I needed 4 metal plates (about 8" by 3 feet long each) that were mounted to the wall also painted over. Initially, they were taped and not painted, so the guys had to rush in the last 3 hours or so to get them done and, understandably, the end product looks a bit sloppy. Fredy also helped me with a small spot on the front of the building that was marked with graffiti, which wasn't included in the original job. He went out of his way to match the paint himself and paint over the spot, and I appreciate so much the "above and beyond" effort. However, the color didn't end up matching so the front of our building is now 2-tone : / I was unable to be around during much of the work, so I basically just trusted the process and walked away. The guys were super trustworthy too, which is so important to me. With regards to the quality of the work, I am about 90% satisfied and would use them again for sure. I would just be more present next time to help sort out and manage the small things as they come up. Thank you Fredy!

Jarrod was quick to come to the rescue when my originally hired painters fell through. He painted my entire apartment for a great flat rate price, up front and no hidden costs. We discussed what I needed, he recommended the paint and went to work getting it finished. Wish I would have found him first, would have saved me time and trouble.

We hired Excel Construction to do a complete kitchen remodeling and enlarge the existing space by expanding the walls several feet to the patio area. The new kitchen included the installation of the upper and lower cabinets, new paint, new backsplash, marble counter top, LED lighting and new dishwasher, stove and range. Eyal, the project manager and Revital (the lady that we worked with in regards to all the documents, payments and permits) from the office who did an outstanding job helping us. During the work, we clearly noticed that they were always made sure that the costs will remain the same and won’t pass the budget that was set at first and they made sure the job was done accurately. All the sub-contractors that they employed for our house (carpenters, electricians, painters etc.) were outstanding, qualified and experienced. We were very fascinated that our project Eyal was able to complete the entire kitchen few days earlier than he promised us. We were always given a personal attention by Eyal, who was very good in communication and organized and by Revital. The new kitchen looks perfect and very useful and we strongly recommend them and we will hire them again for any remodeling project we may have.

Hiring Johnny has been the best decision I've ever made, in the past I've had hired many other painters who gave me cheap price but at the end I was very disappointed for their work was a terrible mess. Trusting Johnny with my home painting project is a decision I can make all over again, his price was extremely reasonable and his work is more than perfect. I am very happy to have my house painted the way he did, his expertise advise helped me through choosing the colors and picking the right paint. Johnny will now be my number one painter for all my upcoming projects, besides painting he knows carpentry, he fixed my bathroom door and medicine cabinet! I am very satisfied. If anyone thinks in painting call Johnny don't hesitate give him a call and he will make wonders with any project. Thank you Johnny -Maria Elena

He is a very courteous, well mannered and thoughtful person. he is a very skilled painter along with other construction areas. paticular about his work and the end result of the task at hand. I had him remove the acoustic celling's through out my house, then float and prime, then texture to match the walls. ( and it did exactly ) He painted the celling's, walls, doors and trim. It looks fantastic. I defiantly will call on him to do all my painting needs.

I would give Martin 10 stars if I could. What a gem! I have used painters over the years at home and for my investment properties. He is very polite, professional and accurate. He does what he says, he and his crew are on time. They clean up, are very conscience of working clean. The end project is awesome. Beyond what I expected at a very fair price. They are not fast, but accurate, the end project is quality. Martin is an artisan and takes extreme pride in his work. Not to mention he is a nice person as well. Martin has a customer for life. Thank you!!!

Nick shows up when he says he will be here. He is a meticulous painter, of which I appreciate. There wasn't anything for me to clean up when he finished. His prices are reasonable; and I am more thuan happy with the finished product. I would recommend him to friends, and plan to hire him again in the future.

Our house is over 100 years old and we've lived in it for 40 years. We have hired many painters, but Wilmer's is by far the BEST! Nobody prepares surfaces for painting better than Wilmer and his crew. He does it the old school way, scraping and sanding by hand, with great attention to details. They protected the rooms and furniture by wrapping them with plastic. After each workday the crew meticulously vacuumed the dust and organized their materials and tools. The quality and pride of their work truly speaks volumes. We give Wilmer's Painting the highest recommendations.

Angelo and his crew performed speciality plaster and paint for both my nursing home and home estate in Calabasas. The reason why I chose Angelo is because he comes from the old world and isn't a daily laborer but an artisan and craftsman who was priced , ironically, below some of the bids from daily laborer's. One more important fact, his PRICE WAS HIS PRICE. He is the only painter and Venician plasterer who quoted a number and despite spending an extra week kept his WORD. My management team will only use his company from now on.

Bob showed up every day exactly on time . He worked quietly room to room always considerate of us living in the house, creating as little chaos as possible. He is a pro painter. Works alone efficiently and quickly. He preps, cleans then applies paint perfectly. He is easy to communicate with and amenable to changes. His price is extremely fair and he finished in the expected time. It was easy and stress less. The outcome beautiful.

We used Berkeley for 3 of our rental units. That alone should speak for itself but if it doesn't, he is a fantastic painter, reliable, concientous, trustworthy and an all around nice guy. Hire him for all your painting needs, you won't regret it.

The company sublet the project to a painter, but informed me of who will be coming and when. The person was attentive to our needs and modifies his hours accordingly.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

      • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
      • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
      • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
      • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
