Introduction: My name is Gianna, I am hard of hearing and grew up oral before I became fluent in American Sign Language. I was a student at National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY which is home to one of the largest deaf populations in the U.S. While I continue my higher education I am offering lessons and tutoring of ASL. I want to share my 10 years of experience in ASL and Deaf Culture in hopes to make communication more accessible for Deaf/HH people (knowing sign can make someone's day!). Another reason for teaching is the importance of ASL receiving the recognition, respect, and normalization it deserves like any other spoken language. I currently teach individuals with my own lesson plans and tutor for those that are taking ASL classes elsewhere. The best way to become fluent in any language is to learn from and interact with the source! Come and learn with a member of the Deaf/HH community!

Gianna was awesome! I was really struggling with my upper level sign language course after taking a 2 year break from ASL. She really helped me relearn the language. She was always flexible with scheduling, provided great resources, and was fun to work with. Would definitely recommend her!

Gianna is a phenomenal, knowledgeable tutor who approaches lessons like conversing with a friend. She is patient, adaptable, and teaches equally ASL and deaf culture. She understands my goals, and tailored our lessons and topics of conversation to keep them interesting and relevant. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tutoring: $30 Private Lessons (1-2 people): $35 Private Lessons (2-5 people): $40-$50
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we will establish the price of the services you want to receive. Second, we will establish a time and place that is compatible for the both of us. When we meet we I will ask what your goals are for learning. Lesson plans will be tailored to your proficiency level and needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took ASL 1-4 in high school from a child of a deaf adult (CODA). After graduating, I went to NTID/RIT to earn a degree among a diverse population of Deaf/HH people. I have been actively signing for 8 years and involved in the Deaf/HH community since then. I use ASL as a primary language even though it is my second language, I highly depend on it because of my deafness.
