I researched many competitors looking for the best deal. As most of us I was trying to save money. I stumbled across Ray Rays Hard Serface Cleaners and was so impressed with his prices of course we immediately hired him. Initially I was most concerned with my kitchen. I have children so you can imagine my tile and grout. Wish they let me post pictures. However I was so impressed with his work my Husband and I had him do our two bathrooms and a very unfortunately beat up rug. We were actually going to throw away but I was hanging on to it because it matched all my furniture and we all know how hard that is to find. I couldn't believe it. It looked like when we bought. I never do these reviews but he was so professional and just very nice I thought I'd take some time to tell him. People are quick to leave bad reviews but slower for good ones. He deserves it. Honestly I thought you get what you pay for and the job wouldn't be the best. Boy was I wrong! I will keep that in mind. You will have a returning customer from us. Thank you very much!!!

Extremely hard working and super nice and polite as well! Deep cleaning after renovations of the entire house, including floor tile removal, full kitchen demo, which caused lots of dust on floor, walls, ceiling, windows. Hand cleaning throughout! Will book these two ladies again before we move in with the wife, toddler, and newborn!

If there were a sixth star, I would award it to Osbaldo. This is a bit of a late review as the project was completed prior to Thanksgiving 2014. We had carpeting, tile, and baseboard removed. New tile was laid in the kitchen and half bath. Hardwood flooring and 5 1/4" baseboard were installed in the family room. Moreover, a custom hearth, mantel, and stone facade were added to the fireplace. The result was excellent and we are still pleased with the craftsmanship. We will be hiring Osbaldo again for additional projects.

We are very pleased with the jobs that Dan & Lito did for us. They removed old carpet & wooden floors and then laid 1000 sq ft of tile, replaced the baseboards and then installed some gutters outside. They were always on time and left the house very clean when they were done. We will definitely find more jobs for them to do. They were a pleasure to work with.

Kitchen remodel and other repairs and improvements: After ordering a Home Depot Quartz countertop and backsplash we hired Anthony to take out the old tile countertop and tile backsplash. He replaced the drywall, sink, disposal and pipe. In the kitchen he added additional electrical outlets, replaced the ceiling light and installed a dimmer, installed under cabinet lighting and a timer for our outdoor pole light. Anthony is a hard worker, trustworthy, reliable, friendly, honest and affordable. He communicated well. He also replaced our rusty patio gutter and downspout and replaced clapboard, fascia and flashing as needed. He drained our water heater and installed a sediment filter for all incoming City water. We will use him again in the future and will recommend him to anyone.

They arrived on time and were exceptionally thorough and professional in their work. Tile, grout, and granite were cleaned and sealed. The finished product was better than when we had received it when it was brand new. They also gave me advice on what specific products to buy and how to use them properly to maintain each of the surfaces. Thank you!

Jon was a lifesaver! I just moved into a brand new 1900 sq ft home that has mostly tile flooring. I submitted a request to hire someone to seal all of the grout and granite in my home. Jon responded very quickly, called me to discuss his qualifications, and was available to complete the job the very next day. Jon has a significant amount of experience in this field which I greatly appreciated. He took the time to explain how to care for my floors and granite counters. He went above and beyond by pointing out flawed areas that needed to be fixed by the contractor for my 30-day punch list. Jon was easy to talk with, very personable and knowledgeable, and was a pleasure to work with. Being new to the area, I am happy that I found Jon to assist me with this project. When it comes time to service my carpets and redo the sealer on my floors and shower, I will definitely call Jon! I highly recommend him for your grout and granite projects.

My home repair list is too long to list! David Cline was able to complete every project I threw at him. My mother-in-law's 50 year old house needed help. Two bathrooms needed to be remodeled, floors needed to be tiled, David and Steve installed Wainscot, painted walls, repaired floors, repaired windows throughout the house. Several electrical jobs were required. Light fixtures were installed, plumbing was completed. The kitchen needed work on cabinets, appliances installed, and faucets installed. He also cleaned the gutters, and hauled away trash, old furniture, and carpets. As soon as I talked to David on the phone, I knew I had a dependable person to get the job done. He arrived early for the initial appointment, gave me a very reasonable quote for the job , and began working immediately. First of all, David is very patient. Thank you!! He listens to his customers, makes suggestions to steer us in the right direction. He demonstrates professionalism in all areas of his job. During the remodeling, he would check in with me often, to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. and it was! David has other professionals that work with him. Thank you David, Steve, Steven, and Eugene for your outstanding work. As the projects progressed so did my confidence in these fine handymen. They were considerate of the home, prompt, skilled, and friendly. I will definitely use David Cline for future jobs in my home. I will also be recommending him to my friends and anyone who is looking for someone trustworthy and skilled in the home improvement field.

Angel really came through for my clients. I'm a real estate agent and I have two listings that were in need of updating their bathroom showers, tub and one countertop. Angel updated all three bathrooms and kitchen countertop in one day. He came through for my company. He will be the first person I call whenever I need tile grout updating. I'm 100% satisfied by price and his work. Angel was easy going and focused on me being satisfied by his work. Thanks again Angel!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
