Austin, you are a very nice person and you took care and time taking my pictures. You were on time But, the pictures you took were not good. I have taken the same pictures of myself and they came out just like yours did. I expected a more quality job. I am not at all happy with the results of the pictures, I wish I hadn't paid you. I would like my money back. I now have to go to a professional head shot photographer to get my pictures done again.

Dear Mary, Mary, thank you for taking time to review our headshot photo session and I appreciate candidness of your response. I will take measures to prevent any future client dissatisfaction and use this as a learning opportunity. My clients are my number one priority and I've failed if my work doesn't measure up to the expected standards. Nonetheless, I appreciate the opportunity and I'm confident that I've become a better photographer because of it.

Austin was very professional and provided the service that we agreed upon. He took pictures of my daughter and her teammates as instructed. I will definitely be using Austin again in the very near future. Highly recommended and very reasonable rates.

Austin was our photographer for The Twenty Million Minds event Project #CodeTruck, for which Los Angeles middle to high school students took a coding workshop. We asked for a combination of action shots and group shots of the students and #CodeTruck team. Austin's rate is definitely affordable, but he does have some additional fees (i.e. licensing agreement) that you may want to confirm. Austin is at an early point in his photography career, and as a result required some direction with the specific photographs we wished to have taken at the event. While this may have taken some staff time away from the event, we were quite pleased with the photographs that were taken. However, if you are looking to use Austin's photos for media purposes, it is important to provide him with specific direction on composition and framing to get the product you desire. It is always great to support creative professionals and I believe Austin is well-intentioned and receptive to feedback or opportunities for growth. With experience, confidence, and development of strengths I am optimistic about his future as a photographer. Overall, it is very important to weigh time, cost and goals to determine if he will be an appropriate fit.

Austin was our volunteer photographer at the Los Angeles Team Mentoring 3rd Annual 'Dodge for A Cause' Charity Dodgeball Tournament on May 10th 2014. Austin took action shots as well as team pictures of our players during the tournament. All of the pictures tuned out great and our participants loved them. Austin was extremely easy to work with and always responded promptly to questions. I would definitely recommend him and I would be happy to work with him on future events!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A few introductory questions regarding the scope, the scale of the work and creative direction. An estimate for the work will then be shared.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked as a staff photographer at a college bi-weekly newspaper. Upon graduating (2014), I worked as a freelance photographer in different capacities, mostly for a now-defunct online periodical, while also working as a (real-estate) photographer for start-up, Peerspace. I also have experience freelancing as a fashion (lifestyle and product) and portrait photographer. I've worked full-time as a product photographer for the past two years and currently am employed full-time at Joybird Furniture. I also still maintain a handful of freelance clients.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
I'’ll provide an appropriate hourly rate. The rate will depend on the amount of work needed to complete the project and my degree of expertise in the specific request.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got my start in photography as a photojournalist for the school paper while attending UCSD. I thoroughly enjoy all types of photography and am willing to take on projects outside photojournalism. I've taken on projects in commercial, editorial, and documentary work with the same passion that I approach my photojournalism work.
