George Castillo provided pest extermination at my home and rental property. He was professional and thorough. He showed up on time, explained the process in detail, and completed the job much quicker than I expected. It's been about 3 weeks and I haven't had a problem with pest. I couldn't be more pleased! I definitely plan to request George for long-term pest maintenance service.

Larry is the best pest control service to date. I have had an ant problem in my home for the last 15 years. We spray and bait every year. Unlike other companies, Larry was fast, personable, and quoted fairly. After the first spray the ants returned and we worried the nightmare would continue. I recalled Larry and he came and did a second spray using a different product, I have not seen an ant on the property since. He is a man of his word, there are no hidden costs, and the service was great. Thank you.

I am so happy we called Shaun from Bee Patrol out to our home. He resolved our bee removal/relocation same day and responded within minutes. We had someone lined up tomorrow, but cancelled when we found out they were planning to exterminate. Live bee removal is a sight to see. Also, my husband is military so we love to support those who have served in the armed forces. Thank you for your help and your service! Highly recommend this company.

The tech was a little pushy because there was a mix up with bee removal services he didn't want to lose the job. After careful review and the price he quoted we gave the job to awesome bees.

I am so happy that they got rid of my nasty ant problem. My old pest control company could not get rid of my ants. They made excuses that everyone is having an ant problem. I was than told my problem came from my neighbor. I had enough, I shopped around and found Revolution. They came out to my home the day I called them. Sprayed the ants that were wondering around my property than a week later did the entire perimeter of my home. No more ants for weeks now. I was so pleased I fired my old pest control and hired Revolution. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a professional company that actually gets things done.

The service tech was very thorough and pleasant to deal with. He did a complete attic treatment to prevent termites as well as exterior treatment for other insects and rodents. He returned for treatment of bird nest infestation and stayed as late as he needed to in order to finish the job (even though it took him longer than anticipated to deal with my bird problems). I will continue to use their maintenance service in order to prevent the critters and pests from coming back.

Manuel is good at what he does. He gave me advice to help keep the pests away and seal any holes and bam. Each day I see less and less evidence of rodents in my home and less roaches and no more ants. I'm very happy for his services. Especially with the palms cut to stumps I don't have to worry about roof rats invading my home anymore.

Kenny came to the initial bidding process on time and prepared to deliver his initial quote. While he was at the job-site, he suggested other jobs that he is proficient in completing if we decided we need help. The first job was in demolishing and removing a gazebo that was constructed between two existing buildings. He was meticulous in dismantling it and left no trace when he was finished. Kenny will be refinishing our hardwood floors next, and installing laminate planking. Hope I can leave another review after he's done!

I had a problem with crickets and Waterbugs wandering into my home from the backyard ... I decided to go with Fume-a-pest because they had great reviews and reasonable rates ... and I do not regret my decision because the owner ( whom I set up the Appointment with ) is super nice and even told me if i wasn't satisfied to call and they would come back for a second time!!! Mariners Pest Control was very prompt in quoting my job. I was unhappy with my previous Pest Control provider, and was looking to make a change. Mariners Pest Control provides a better service than those bigger companies by thoroughly inspecting and treating the outer perimeter of the property, and the technician also took the time to make sure everything was A-OK inside my home as well. We've had a problem with spiders over the last 6 months, and a member of my household formed an abscess from a spider bite that in my opinion would NOT have happened had I been with Mariners Pest Control – lesson learned. I'm so happy I found Mariners Pest Control. The customer service experience overall has been fantastic, and I feel they give a much more personal service than what I was receiving before with a larger company. I really feel like my spider problem is being taken seriously and handled appropriately now, along with preventing the usual spring and summer ant issues. Thank you Nathan and the Mariners Pest Control team!

I had a hard time finding a company that will help to resolve my pest problems. I found treebark online and I called them right away and I’m happy that they returned my call right away and needed to get done. They set a quick appointment and did a wonderful job. The exterminators came to our house was brisk. They did a thorough job; spraying all over through place and after that, they removed the pests. I saw an immediate result. This company was really in providing great customer service and care, the work they do for us is good and the price was right. Very reasonable! I’m a very satisfied customer. I will continue to use this service if ever I have a pest problem again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
