Why I love Shape Up Studio...There are several reasons. First of all, there is something about that gym that feels different. There's really good energy and the atmosphere feels relaxed and fun at the same time. All the trainers are so kind, approachable and very knowledgeable. I've been going there for a few months now and have gotten to meet Markshane. He's very dedicated, professional, and filled with energy. He takes the time to really listened and help you reach your goals, whether it's loosing weight, training for an event, or simply keeping an active lifestyle. I also love my 30 minute circuit class on Tues & Thursdays with Vinny. That class is super fun and you go at your own pace. Getting massages with Christine, the massage therapist, is also a treat-Especially, when it's in the same building. They have a nutritionist there as well that can guide you and keep you on track. A lot of the comments below definitely resonated and seems that there is a commonality: and that is a great place to train with the support you need. That is why I love Shape Up Studio! P.s. In March 2017, I was stuck in my weight loss efforts despite limiting my calories and exercise efforts. Shedding 30+ pounds had been a struggle for years – my weight would yo-yo; sometimes being able to lose a few pounds with deprivation, but the pounds always returned once I started eating again. I was also experiencing fairly severe health annoyances like constant watery eyes and significant swelling in my knees – but my focus was really not on those things; it was on wanting to lose weight. Convinced that my metabolism was permanently stifled due to my age and years of yo-yo dieting (I am 55 years old), I was ready to give up and accept the way I looked and felt as my unfortunate reality. My husband thankfully encouraged me to see a Dietician/Nutritionist, and I found Donna online. My first appointment with Donna was in late March. We decided that I would do a 2 week cleanse (Detox) to rid my body of toxins – it was excruciating (but worth it!), proof that my body was full of bad things. I then went through testing for the LEAP program. The results were very interesting – things I had been eating for years in my efforts to lose weight – like certain fruits, garbanzo beans, cabbage, corn, chicken, and beef – and things like basil, garlic, and peanuts – were identified as intolerances for me. Donna explained that these foods led to inflammation and worked against my weight loss efforts. As well, consumption of these foods was causing/aggravating the other health symptoms I was experiencing. Fast forward to six months later, and while I have not been perfect, I am over halfway to my weight loss goal! Thanks to Donna and the LEAP protocol, I have lost about 20 pounds, the swelling in my knees is noticeably reduced, and my eyes are only occasionally mildly watery. My physical and mental health has improved, and I am aware of how I feel when eating certain foods to the point that I embarked on a 10-week program to give up sugar on August 1st. One of the best things about the LEAP program is that it is not a Diet – this is a Lifestyle Change which I will be able to maintain. I highly recommend Donna and the programs she uses to others struggling with health issues, including the inability to lose weight. It is amazing how much what we ingest affects our health, and it’s not just avoiding those foods we know we shouldn’t eat! I was eating hummus and grapefruit regularly in my prior weight loss efforts, and it turns out those so-called health foods were working against me. This program has been life changing for me, and I am so appreciative for Donna and her true concern about my health.
I have been training with Greg for almost 5 yrs. I injured my back 6 yrs ago and was basically useless at my jobs because of it. I figured getting my back stronger was the key so I went to Greg. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE!!! I have two very physical jobs that consist of lifting, which I can now do without injuring myself. I can lift an 85 lb dog ( if I absolutely needed to) and I can lift 1/2 of a backboard with a 300lb person on it (which I do often). Greg does training specific to both my jobs ("patient pulls", "gurney transfers", "dog lifts", etc). If there isn't a know exercise, he makes one up after I show him what I have to do at work. Greg will work around your schedule and he can help you with your diet/nutrition. He has made my daily life so much easier and always has suggestions for ways to relieve my chronic back pain (without medications). Thanks Greg !!!!!
Junior has been my trainer for over a year. He is the best! He continuously devises new and well thought out workout components that focus on my needs as an MS patient and push me to improve. He's also a terrific nutritionist!
Will is hands down the BEST personal trainer I have ever had! He is incredibly knowledgeable with kinesiology and body mechanics. He takes a sincere interest in injury prevention by educating and correcting improper form, as well as remains PRESENT the entire session to ensure you are focused and to help you surpass your own personal goals... he is never on his phone or looking away. Always communicates thoroughly, checks in with me between sessions, motivates my growth, and takes the time to understand my personal needs. I have never been more satisfied with the quality and care given to me by any other sports professional. Highly recommend a thousand times over. Thank you so much Will!!!!
Started out going to John due to several serious ankle injuries. After a very detailed re-hab program, (in office) and at home exercises my ankle felt great. I have not had a problem since. Johns approach to injury is very comprehensive and I have and continue to recommend his services and knowledge. I still see John mainly as an extremely knowledgeable exercise trainer/consultant, and for his knowledge in nutrition and wellness. His positive feedback with the right amount of push to better you overall wellbeing is an approach you will not get anywhere else.
Christa, and her services, are all you need for holistic wellness. As a massage therapist she integrates her extensive knowledge of anatomy with intuition, to create the massage you need for healing, relaxation, or rehab. As a nutritionist, she gives clear advice based on her years of research and strong listening to your goals and or symptoms. She also connects with the emotions that are commonly tied to symptoms like chronic pain, chronic fatigue, injury, illness, and poor health. Christa tells you what you need to hear, without judgement, and with compassion and authenticity. She has been a life changer for me, first supporting me in cutting gluten out of my diet, and then cutting out sugar. Without her, I wouldn't have known why I should, beloved I could, or known how to- step by step. I can't say enough about her talent, commitment, and passion for helping people to live their healthiest life possible.
I love going to FitNation. It's not a "gym" or sports club, it's different than anything I had experienced before. The chiropractors really take their time to listen to the patient and are invested in making sure treatments are comfortable and effective for me. Then when it is time to train, the trainers work with me to push my boundaries and get me performing better without it feeling like boot camp or making me feel like a failure. And they are so good at instructing you how to properly do each movement. Maybe I am a nerd but that is so important to me; I like to learn things like that!i feel great when I come to FN because I know I am working to improve (reduce) my back pain and also to have a healthy strong body! I also really love how clean yet comfortable the environment is, I seriously love this place.
This is my first time using a trainer. I have always been active with sports/ fitness classes / and running, so I wasn't sure how I would benefit from the one on one training. Antonia has done a great job of assessing my strengths and weaknesses, and really focuses on my weaknesses and areas for improvement. I am an avid runner( half marathons/ marathons/ trail), and she focuses on core strength, stretching and balance. Within a very short period of time (< 2 months) I accomplished significant improvement in my strength, abilities and fitness level (standard pushups, flexibility, loss of inches/ fat). She varies the workouts so it never gets boring. She has a lot of ideas on fun ways to workout. Extremely professional approach to working out. She is easy to get in contact with and is always responsive. She is very punctual, and is flexible to work around my schedule.
I've struggled with my weight most of my life. I've yoyo'd between obese and athletic. It wasn't until I worked out with Thomas that I was able to develop strategies to stop the yoyoing and stay in shape. Thomas isn't just a personal trainer. He's also a motivator and a life coach. He teaches you strategies to get your workouts and diet under control, but when you fall off the wagon he encourages you to get back on and brings you up rather than scolding you. I've worked out with several different personal trainers of the years, but Thomas is by far the best. If you are looking to lose weight, train for a sport or get in shape to run a marathon, give Thomas a call. He will get build you a strategy to not just achieve your goal, but thrive.

Best nutritionist in San Diego for natural and healthy foods, especially if you are thinking of becoming a vegan or vegetarian! Basically, I was a bachelor and I needed guidance for grocery shopping, meal prep and did one of her cooking classes focused on smoothies and juicing - was geared to yogis/athletes (pre and post workouts). I was taken to People's in Ocean Beach for a one hour tour (place is all vegetarian), and I learned the best things to pick out from each isle. She also treated me to a salad in their cafe, and told me what salad bar items pack the best nutrition (I was focusing on slowly eating less meat and just making sure I was getting good protein). My work is hiring her for our corporate wellness program based on her dietician background and nutritionist certification...sweet! She has awesome teas too, they cleanse you out ;)
