Jessica is a God send. Our dog is not well socialized, partially because she was abused before we got her. She becomes anxious around other people. Roxy loved Jessica from the moment she walked in. After her grooming Jessica brought her back in the house and I have never seen her come in the house from outside as calm and happy as she was.Mar 8, 2020Verified
Jessica was prompt, professional and fantastic with the dog!Feb 7, 2020Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing starts $40 (Small dog, Short hair, bath and brush only, No hair cut) and price goes up from there depending on breed, service requested, and location. Pricing is hard to quote to the customer for grooming if there is not enough details being provided to the groomer. Many of the leads here on thumbtack do not have enough information when send to the groomer. If you are not getting any replays it is possibly due to lack of information. We pay $3-$5 per lead. If you just have that Lulu needs services but we don't know the breed, size, or specific service you are looking for then there is a high chance that you will not get a response. Information needed for myself and/or other groomers to provide an accurate quote: -Breed of dog: -Pictures help tremendously with giving you a quote: -Location: City or cross streets. Sacramento is a big area, Cross streets will help a lot. -What type of service are you looking for, be specific. Just a bath and brush, or is it a full groom? (Full groom means you want the entire dog groomed, face, legs, tails, feet, body. A light trim or sanitary trim is going to be face, feet and/or sanitary, No body. The difference in a bath/brush, full groom and face feet sanitary effects the price) Include if your dog is matted. Please do not let the groomer quote you, come to you then find out that the dog is matted head to toe. This effects the price a lot as well and might change your mind one what you want done with the dog. This is also why it is a good idea to include a recent picture of the dog.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to get as much information from you as the customer as possible before even quoting you. (See question about pricing). When I schedule a new client I include a few minute to my schedule for a consultation type meeting. I have a new client form to fill out that if for the customer to provide contact information about yourself and then details on the dog, if there is any health issues, allergies, or behavior that I need to be made aware of before starting with your pet. Please do not leave out that your dog may bite. Some people think that I will not want to groom their dog if it is a biter. This is the opposite for me. Majority of the time your pet may have bad behavior when being groomed due to a previous groomer being rough or mean. I want to teach your pet that it is ok to be groomed, that they do not have to be scared or aggressive to the groomer. There are exceptions to this. Some pets are stuck in their ways and this is just their normal behavior. These dogs it doesnt matter how much a groomer tries to change them, they will not change. There are groomers out there though willing to take on these types of pets, especially if the price is right.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I honestly have not been in grooming long. I am currently enrolled in grooming school where I have finished my book work and am now going into the next stage which is the hands on externship. I have always had desk jobs. I decided a while back though that I was tired of sitting behind a desk and wanted to do something with animals. My friend being a mobile groomer offered for me to ride a long with her to see how I would like it. I have apprenticed with her off and on over the last year and a half. I also quit my desk job and went to work at a grooming salon as a bather/groomer assistant where I worked for 8 months. However, I hit a brick wall there and I was not learning any more working so I am currently back at a desk job while I am finishing up school and starting my grooming career.
