Guitar and drum lessons. James is amazing. Personable, easy going, and professional. Teaches according to student's abilities and desires. Can learn any song you want to learn and then show you in a manner you can handle.
As a former professional musician, I have had a lot of experience with music instructors, and know what qualities make a great teacher. Alex has been my son's drum teacher for seven years now, and has done an outstanding job. He is patient, clear in his instruction, and challenges my son to reach his full potential. Although my son is only 11, he's begun playing with an intermediate-level improvisation class in town that is made up of teens and adults, and has been excelling. I know there is no way he would have gotten this far without Alex's guidance and encouragement. When Alex moved to California a couple of years ago, I was concerned that his lessons with my son would not be as strong without his actual presence. However, we have maintained weekly lessons via skype, and the lessons have been as strong as ever. We also send him short clips during the week of my son's progress, and we get almost instant feedback and guidance. Alex has also taken the time to get to know my son, including his other interests and sensibilities. I can't imagine a better teacher for my son. We feel very blessed. I give Alex my strongest endorsement.
I have been taking guitar lessons from Kimberly via Skype for about six years. I really like her teaching style which is systematic and focused. She tailors her lessons to my goals and time. Her teaching method is to help you gain insight and skill through patient practice of gradually changing exercises. She doesn't snow you with theory, but presents it to you in digestible amounts just when it will make sense. She welcomes questions and I always learn from our discussions. She has led me to learn techniques on the guitar that I was absolutely sure I could never learn. For something to seem impossible at the start, to seem possible a week later and to be routine a month later is amazingly uplifting. Kimberly's background was first a life of teaching herself and playing gigs with all kinds of bands in all kinds of places. She has also deepened and strengthened her knowledge by gaining academic degrees in guitar and jazz and also by studying under masters. This gives her an incredibly deep understanding of learning and teaching music, an immense skill in playing guitar, and an appreciation for the challenges of playing with other people. I especially love her continued enthusiasm for guitar and that she really enjoys teaching. I have found in Kimberly the best of teachers and highly recommend her without reservation.
Damien is truly a wonderful music instructor! He is very knowledgeable in music and I'm so glad I was able take drum lessons from Damien!!
Nolan is a consummate professional, both with his drumming skills and his demeanor. He is able to be firm enough with my 10 year old son (who thinks life revolves around video games), yet never overbearing. This is perfect for a kid with a short attention span! I appreciate the way he challenges my son and encourages him at the same time. I have been a life long musicians playing guitar and singing for over 25 years, and with all the drummers I know, if I was going to take drum lessons I would want to take them from Nolan!
I started taking drum lessons later in life as I've always wanted to learn. After a great birthday present from a friend I started lessons with Mike. He is great at listening to what I wanted to learn and was very, very patient with me. I've always had trouble reading music but he taught me in no time and made the lessons very fun and interesting. He let me pick the songs I wanted to learn and he would even play along to help me get it right! Mike is a very talented drummer, musician and teacher. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in learning the drums, he'll have you playing in no time!!
I've been taking drum lessons with JJ via Skype for almost two months now and LOVE IT! First, I absolutely love the convenience of the Skype Lessons. It's so easy to schedule and coordinate and is just as effective as an in person lesson- even more so since we can both access and share emails/files/videos/lesson plans so quickly! By just angling my laptop, she can see and hear everything I'm doing and is able to easily advise on technique. Plus, there's just somehow less pressure than having someone physically in the room with you, and I feel more comfortable to experiment, make mistakes, then learn. Second, aside from the tech aspect of it, JJ is an amazing teacher! She really tailors lessons to you as an individual based on your goals, skill level, schedule, tastes, and how you work best. She always has drills and lessons ready to go, but is completely adaptable when something different comes up that you might want/need to work on. Everything she teaches is incredibly practical and well thought out to ensure the best, most effective learning process possible. Plus, it's so fun! JJ is patient, encouraging, enthusiastic, and everything you'd want in a drum teacher. I feel like I am flying in how quickly I've progressed in just a few weeks, and it's all thanks to JJ!!
My son, Chase, took drum lessons from Kyle for 5+ years when Kyle was teaching on the central coast of California. Chase started when he was nine. Kyle did an incredible job with him. So much so that I eventually decided to take lessons from him myself. A great instructor and an even better human being. I couldn't have asked for a better role model for my son. Steve Andersen, San Luis Obispo, CA
Efrein is teaching me theroy and steel pan drum. Hes very patient with my learning skills. I am learning quicker then I thought I would. I would recommend him because he is very knowledgeable in music. jh
My son started formal drum lessons with Steve two and a half years ago. Steve set the bar on professionalism, flexibility, communication, and has the patience to teach music to younger kids. My son went from a kid banging on a toy drum, to a musician that could play drum set rhythms in an elementary school jazz band. We've had other instructors since Steve left the Los Alamitos area but none of them compared to his high level of attributes listed earlier.
My 5 year old takes drumming lessons. The instructor is patient and encouraging to him. He has a great command of the instrument and his students. My 5 year old can read music after a summer of practice.
Geo is a very good drummer with a great attitude!!! I took lessons with him for over two years and thoroughly enjoyed my time. He has a cool approach to the drum kit that makes you look comfortable and relaxed when playing. He is experienced and knows how to quickly help you where you lack. He is patient and nice! Highly recommended for both experienced players and beginners!
Michael has a very straight forward approach to teaching. Whether it was answering a technique question or developing new ways to manuever around the set, each lesson consisted of my thoroughly learning new information in a practical and very efficient manner. Being a percussionist myself, we naturally have good rapport with the language we communicate with. Michael's way of personal interaction alongside his instrument is certainly one of the best forays into any practice and study of music, for those just starting or already proficient.
I signed up for some drum lessons with Aly. I am an adult student and was a little bit apprehensive about seeking instruction. I wanted to focus on playing traditional grip and jattempt to get my chops back to where they were 20 years ago. I'm glad I decided to sign up. Aly is not only a talented musician, but she is also a sincere and sweet person. Her lessons are encouraging, motivating, and fun. I look forward to our sessions. I would recommend her for any age. If you are s parent and thinking about taking your child to her for lessons, I cannot recommend her enough.
Isy teaches two of my teenagers the drums and guitar. Both started as complete beginners and have grown so much with his help. We appreciate his encouraging and positive approach to teaching and his amazing depth of knowledge. He is very patient and designs the flow of each lesson to meet each student’s specific needs instead of trying to conform the student into a pre-scripted curriculum plan. The girls look forward to lessons each week and are growing in their love for their instrument.
Frank is a great teacher. I have progressed in my drum skills since working with him.
My daughter Shavanie has been with at SoundCheck for about two months. First off I must say Dan & Electra are very friendly and down to earth people. My daughter does Vocal & Piano lessons with Electra, she is one of the best music coach my daughter has worked with so far...... I am amazed by her progress. She also does Guitar lessons with Josh, who is also amazing...she is finally enjoying her guitar :) Since my daughter has been with SoundCheck she has shown more excitement towards music vocally and instrumentally. I can't thank them enough! :-) I truly recommend SoundCheck, you will not regret it.
Every Friday I'm at GoDpsMusic for my drum lesson. Definitely my favorite day of the week! The atmosphere is excellent! The acoustic and electronic drum kits in the lesson studios are the best. If you want to schedule a lesson or purchase equipment, I strongly recommend GoDpsMusic. Kevin, Brendan, Bryan, Steve and Robbie are the "go-to" guys at GoDpsMusic.

I am 27 years old and have been playing both the drums and guitar for as long as I can remember. I took lessons myself for several years, and I would like to pass my knowledge on.

With over 35 years of drum instruction experience, hundreds of students from ages 6 to 50+ years with experience ranging from beginner to seasoned-pro. Mark has a proven tract record with lessons tailored to meet the students needs. Mark is patient, organized and results oriented. Marks style of teaching is relaxed and incorporates years of experience. His years of teaching have given him an understanding that people learn differently and no two students are exactly alike. What this means is that lessons are tailored to each student in order to meet them at their level of ability and comprehension. Students may lean towards being more Visual Learners, Auditory Learners, Kinesthetic Learners or a combination thereof which is what makes drumming a fantastic vehicle to increasing brain function. As is said, "Neurons that fire together, wire together." For example: Mark employs having a student read drum notation while singing and playing the rhythm on the drum set. Perhaps more importantly is Marks ability to tap into his students desire to play drums, keeping it fun while he helps them move towards mastery of the instrument.

I act on a one to one basis. Treating each person as an individual with specific needs and abilities. So wether its drum kit lessons where i work on your favorite styles of music. To the deeper drum workshops geared to help people at different stages in life. Then deeper still with the gong and tuning fork work. Which is specific for each person as we all vibrate in a different way.
