About

Let's talk it over... Good for you, reaching out for support! You are taking a big, worthwhile step. I'm a licensed psychotherapist working with adult individuals and couples. I have over 13 years experience and work with issues involving anxiety, stress, depression, grief, life transitions and relationships. I provide a safe space to explore and process the feelings and issues you are experiencing. It's not about getting rid of your feelings but rather learning how to manage them in a more healthy way. It's usually best to work through your issues rather than ignore them or try and push them aside. I want to help you or you and your partner lead a more fulfilling and joyful life. If you are interested, our sessions can also focus on the mind-body connection which allows me to help you achieve the body's relaxation response - relaxed body with a calm, alert, mind. Research has shown the body's relaxation response has a myriad of health benefits! This includes helping in the reduction of pain, stress, anxiety, fatigue and irritability. It's shown to help lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels in our bodies. It helps to increase energy, motivation, productivity, and improve decision-making abilities. It's what I like to call, "Calm Energy." I also offer a 4 session series of talk-then-walk where you will learn Mindful Walking and get the added benefits of being outside and moving your body a bit. It usually consists of 35 minutes talk inside/15 minutes walk outside. Mindful Walking is done at a nice, slow pace and another wonderful way of managing stress, anxiety and keeping you more connected in the moments of your life. It continues the theme of working with both mind and body and can be viewed as a more active form of meditation. Ask me about my brief workshop or one-on-one sessions teaching Calm Energy -helping to reduce stress, increase energy, as well as productivity. Look forward to hearing from you and don't forget to Breathe!

About

Life is full of challenges, expected and unexpected. Sometimes, it can be stressful, overwhelming, and even confusing to sort things out alone, and when we are stressed out, sometimes we are prone to illness. With a gentle, compassionate and supportive approach, I am committed to guiding my clients reach their potentials and strengths. I teach clients relaxation and breathing techniques, so that they are capable of dealing with stress and anxiety effectively. Anxious clients have the tendency to focus on the future; therefore, I help my clients get in touch with their inner resources and live in the here and now. The more stressed out and anxious clients are, the more tendency there is for them to get sick. I assist them to decrease their stress level and physical symptoms by teaching them stress management and time management. I also use hypnosis to reduce illness and promote relaxation. I work with individuals (from young children to teenagers to adults) who are facing a variety of issues, including: identity issues, self-esteem, sadness and depression, anxiety and managing stress, using self-control, expressing feelings and more. Working with young children requires special skills because young children do not have the same communication skills or vocabularies as adults have. By using artwork and sand tray, I assist young children who have different problems including depression, ADHD/ADD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, defiant, temper tantrums, bed wetting and social and school problems. I also teach parents effective tools to discipline and raise responsible children. You may wonder why your teenager sometimes feels there is no way out! During teen years, when teenagers are hurtling through intense physical and emotional changes, mood swings are typical. More often, parents feel frustrated when their teens go through drastic mood swings. I help my clients express their sadness in a healthy way. I assess for suicidal thoughts and suicidal attempts. I assist clients identify their negative thoughts and help them tap into their inner resources by using guided imagery and hypnosis. In addition, I give them daily homework to lessen their depression and increase their self-esteem, self-worth and self-image.
