What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love the fact that each job is different! Even though there may be similarities among corporate shoots, wedding assignments, etc., the human element makes all of them different. This guy grinds for your gig!
Terry was nothing but a pro! Showed up early, he did everything above and beyond and even helped us find extra crew for the gig!

Thanks, Isaiah! We had a great team and I enjoyed every day on location. The ice cream cone was a nice touch! Hope we can work together again some day!

I just used Terry Wall of First Impressions Video to videotape ten presentations by amateur performers from various Shakespeare plays at my Third Annual Shakespeare's Birthday Party on April 21st. To state with, Terry is a total professional. He arrived early with all of the equipment he needed. He set up, worked with me to make maximum use of the small space we had in my offices for the presentations; worked with me on the lighting, the microphones, etc. So by the time we started the presentations, not only was Terry ready, but we had a short, simple set of directions for people to follow while presenting their pieces -- so that they would look as good as possible on the video. Terry then gently directed the performers -- some of whom had never presented in this fashion through their pieces -- trying to make sure they looked in the direction of the camera, spoke up, and did not trip over stuff. He was the person directing -- but did not intrude into the perform. Masterful. In any event, we inevitably had some small snafus -- it happens during live performances. However, afterward , Terry edited the entire set of presentations to highlight the strong points of the performances -- making everyone and their pieces look at good as possible, while still conveying the rather fun, and at times even raucous, spirit of the evening -- after all, it was a party! We put the video up on line for everyone to look -- both people who were there and those who could not make the party -- and the response has been phenomenal. This is largely due to Terry taking the time and putting in the extra effort to take what could have been just a garden variety event video into a presentation -- something tasteful and artistic. Many thanks and kudos to Terry for his fine work. I would recommend that anyone having an important event -- a wedding, birthday, anniversary, etc. consider hiring Terry of First Impressions Video to capture the spirit of that moment!

We used First Impressions Video for corporate testimonials twice. On both occasions Terry Wall was the videographer. He was extremely professional, arrived early to prepare and was very patient and accommodating to all of the participants he worked with. Most importantly, he produced a great product for our company. We would certainly hire him again.

Susan, this reply is long overdue! I sincerely appreciate your kind thoughts and welcome the opportunity to serve you again in 2017, for any workshops you conduct in the SoCal area, including one I noticed on your calendar for Irvine!

Terry did a great job filming our industry seminar. He went above and beyond and brought multiple cameras to capture the speakers. It was a pleasure to work with him and I would recommend him to colleagues for their video projects. Thanks Terry!

Terry did a great job for us on 2 recent sales we did in the Mesa Verde area. One home was priced at $2,000,000 and the other was at $1,175,000. His hard work and attention to detail on the production was a big help to us in the sale and marketing of these 2 homes. We can't wait to have Terry out again on our next listing.

Terry Wall of First Impressions Video did a video for my website. We agreed that there were a few spots that could be improved. Rather than touch up a few scenes, he shot the whole video over at no extra charge. Then he added a few images that help to convey my message. Besides being an excellent photographer, he knows how to direct the subject. Terry has all the technical equipment to do the job professionally. I highly recommend his services.

I asked Terry to put together a video montage for my husbands birthday just a month ago. He not only was professional, but helped me through the whole process coordinating and even sending out emails to my family and friends. The video was a gift my husband loved and will cherish forever. I totally 100% recommend him. Thanks again Terry! Diane

We are a neighborhood group that needed professional video services for taping a candidates' forum prior to the recent elections. First Impressions Video came highly recommended and we have to say that Terry Wall and his team did an excellent job. Very professional and completed the work in a very timely fashion. And he was very helpful with recommendations on the set up. We would highly recommend First Impressions Video to anyone needing video services - whether personal or professional.

Terry provided the video support for a half day event. As one of the speakers and event coordinators I would like to share what a great job he did. During the event everything was very professional and final results were excellent. I am still using cuts from that event on my website.

One of our friends asked Terry to video tape our son’s memorial service and we are very happy they did. That day we were all in such a surreal emotional fog – not really aware of much of anything that was happening around us. We were so pleased when he presented us with the DVD of the service. It might seem weird but we are now able to look back and feel the outpouring of love toward our son and our family. We would not have remembered any of that without being able to view the DVD later. Until seeing the DVD, all we remembered was being sad. I don’t even recall seeing Terry at the service. He was very discrete and he edited the DVD in a thoughtful and professional manner. I am so grateful to have that DVD and blessed that Terry was there that day for me and my family.

Terry has worked with us on a number of projects for the nonprofit organization Working Wardrobes. He took both film and still photography at a special event on Camp Pendleton in March and then helped record several client testimonials and "b-roll" that we will be using in future videos to help spread the message about the work that Working Wardrobes is doing in the community. Terry is an outstanding human being on all levels. First of all, he completely donated his professional services to us. Secondly, as a military veteran, he is particularly sensitive to the work that we are doing with veterans making the difficult transition from military to civilian life and this personal connection truly shines through his work - which is outstanding! Terry is the consummate professional - a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend him.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No. Every job is different, so I price according to the requirements of the project. What I will say is this: 90% of my projects allow for a single person crew ("SPC"), which allows me to deliver a quality product at a competitive price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We talk before we shoot. I want to have a good understanding of the goals of the project, to which, I will add my expertise to ensure that those goals are met, even exceeded!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Most definitely! Video technology is changing rapidly, along with film making in general, and it's important to stay abreast of new developments. I typically attend 4 - 5 events a year. But all the latest, greatest gadgets can't replace a good, creative eye, when you're looking through a viewfinder!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
As I noted in my bio I’ve been around cameras of one sort or another all my life. I started with still photography which I studied while in the Marine Corps and learned —sometimes through trial and error —about the power of visual imagery as a compelling medium. I produced several travel industry videos in the 90s, one of which ran for two seasons on The Travel Channel. I moved back to California in 1993 and continued to take on video projects on a part-time basis, but decided to launch First Impressions Video as a full-time endeavor in 2012. I also serve as a senior camera operator at one of Orange County's largest, most popular churches.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My work covers the full gamut of videography, from personal projects, like weddings, memorials and biographies; to internet marketing videos, commercials, how-to's and other types of industrial/commercial/corporate work. I am what's known as a SPC (Single Person Crew) which helps keep costs in check, although I can call in additional crew, should the need and budget allow for it. I welcome the opportunity to bid on YOUR job!
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just wrapped the first of what will become a series of episodes about a law practice. The goal was to de-mystify the law and help people better understand when to engage an attorney--and when it may not be necessary, in favor of other options that may be available! It took a day to shoot and a few days to edit. Client was VERY happy with the results!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You want a professional who knows how to get people comfortable in front of a camera, and sometimes, more than one. This is one of my strongest assets as a video producer! Speaking on camera is not natural, but I instill confidence with my clients, many of whom have never stepped in front of a camera!
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Better to have a plan mapped out rather than trying to "wing it." Nothing will push a budget out of control faster, and "failing to plan is planning to fail!"
