Introduction: Many don't show up; many don't tell the truth; many have "sales" skills.....but don't get the job done to a customer's desire, many do a bid and send a less competent person to do the job. I have finished MANY a job that someone else started or did incorrectly. I have been told that, in my business, my reliability, punctuality and honesty should gain me lifetime employment..........the only variable being price point in a given market. In short, this pays better than anything else I've ever done (which is fun), I meet a lot of interesting people and great clients (which makes it fun), I see and do different things every day (which I enjoy), I like problem-solving (which makes it fun) and the flexibility/pay gives me control of my life. The flexibility of hours my business gives allows me to put my family first; my family appreciates that I can be there for them, that all the bills are paid and the fridge is full :), we rarely need a babysitter because my wife doesn't need to work (sometimes the wife and kids are at my side "sharing" the work experience :)), and we take days off/vacation whenever we feel like it, as long as our commitments are fulfilled.
