We were really pleased with the work Matt did. We had a handful of projects that he completed for us: -Painting and installing trim and a dowel in our laundry -Adding reinforcements, a bike hook and shelving to a storage unit -Hanging floating kitchen shelves He has a great attention to detail when it comes to things like tight seams, clean edges and making things level. He was also on time, friendly, polite and cleaned up after himself. I will note that while we did pay the amount he initially quoted us, it worked out to more than his listed rate of $50/hr, but still seemed reasonable for the job. We'd be happy to use Matt again for future projects!

One of the first things Gleo told me was that he had a regular job and would be able to work on weekends. He did two jobs for me at a rental. One was installing a medicine cabinet and interior lock. He did not complete repair of drywall repair by the cabinet. The other job was installation of a security door. He installed the medicine cabinet, lock and security door in a good manner. He did not complete an addition to the bottom of the security door. He was pleasant, on time, cleaned up well, and cooperative but for the incomplete items. I wanted him to paint a bath in S.F. at another rental but, he did not give me an estimate (perhaps too far away). Manelis Properties

Vyron With his crew-Marco and Pablo did their jobs well. Painting the window trims and baseboards, doors, garage as well as caulking were time consuming but they paid attention to detail. We had wanted to change the roman tub faucet trim but it was unreachable from the access door. In the end, we had to create another acccess door, modify the plumbing. The results were great and we have a beautiful chrome Faucet in place.

Ever responded to my post for a time sensitive painting job very quickly, allowing me to give an overview of the work we needed done and get an idea of the cost right away. After a job walk that same night, we firmed up the quote and work was complete 2 days later! We live in an older flat, and the ceiling and walls needs a few crack repairs, which were done very well, smoothing out the lines and unevenness where it was needed most. The paint was done in 2 coats, which looks great. Also, we had done (and said we'd do) most of the wall hanging removal and decluttering of walls, but Ever and his crew were able to scoot away the big stuff and cover up furniture and surfaces, then put everything back / clean up well after the job was complete. Ever pretty much saved the day by coming through so quickly and doing such a great job. In terms of the price, we paid pretty much exactly what I'd expected for the job. I maybe could have gotten it done for a tiny bit less if I'd consulted with multiple contractors or haggled on price, but we had lost a couple of weeks going back and forth with a flaky contractor, and with Ever's help we are back on track with our design deadlines and beating the clock before we host relatives in our home for the holidays. It was all worth it and a quality job. Big thanks to Ever Molina painting!

Gustavo and his crew are outstanding in the quality of their work, their work ethic (reliability, promptness) and depth of experience. I had them do an electrical job for me (that had baffled 2 prior teams), a huge garden job including building planters and a compost bin for a new organic edible garden, irrigation, cover for the air conditioner unit, painting the backyard fence, misc odd jobs etc. I plan to hire them again for a large lighting job and other items on my to-do list. They deserve more than 5 stars!

Gerald came right away and started on the deck. He explained what was going to be done and what the outcome will be. After all that's said and done my deck looks wonderful again. Gerald seems to take pride in his work and respects his customers. I will definitely use him again for any painting needs and give him referrals.

I am extremely satisfied with Diego and his company. I hired him to paint 4 bedrooms and a hallway. At the last minute, I added a bathroom as well. He was able to get all the work done in 3 days - which included all the prep work, moving furniture, etc. The end result is fantastic, would use him again for any painting projects I'd have.

Omar is a friendly, knowledgable, and competitively priced painter. This job included prepping and painting one side of my two story home, including gutters, shutters, and facia. This side of the house gets direct afternoon sun, so the old paint had blistered, requiring substantial power washing. Omar's experience and attention to detail, resulted in a painting job that exceeded my expectations. His prep work was thorough, including patching cracks in the stucco, priming, and caulking around my fire place. I appreciated that he was thoughtful and careful in protecting my new pavers, plants, and patio furniture. Omar sprayed the first coat of paint, and rolled on the second, insuring the highly textured stucco was fully covered and eliminating that vail appearance that spraying alone can leave. I would not only recommend Omar highly, but I would use him again without hesitation. Also, really a nice guy!

We hired Lifetime Remodeling in the summer of 2017 to do a first floor addition to our home in Millbrae. The project involved adding 400 square feet to our house, which included expanding the living room and adding a new bedroom and a new bathroom. It was wonderful working with Sam and his team at every step of the way. Their bid was very competitive compared to the many others I got, and the estimated time for completion (about four months) was much shorter than most of the other quotes. Lifetime's responsive customer service and attention to detail made our lives so much easier. Here are just a few examples of things they did to minimize our stress. When strong winds blew the construction fence over during off hours, they came out here quickly to get it back up and weigh it down with sandbags. When it came time to block off the parts of the house being demolished, they helped us move furniture and cover it carefully so that it would not get damaged or dirty during construction. When they needed to move the wiring for our internet access, they made sure to reconnect it promptly. The temporary wall they built was very sturdy and effective at blocking out dust, so we had no problem continuing to live in the house throughout the construction. Sam also closely inspected all the work and often caught adjustments to be made that I did not notice. For example, even though the interior painting looked fine to me, Sam decided that he wanted another coat. When we did point out other things that needed adjusting, such as leveling out certain fixtures, the team promptly fixed them. When I asked for a different design for our recessed lighting at the last minute, even after some of them had already been installed, Sam accommodated the request. Sam checked in with me often, so I always felt well informed about the next steps coming up and what I needed to plan for. This was awesome because I learned that it can be agonizing to pick out tiles, hardwood, hardware, etc. for a project like this, especially for someone like me doing it for the first time. It was also helpful to have Sam's recommendations for suppliers for the finishes and fixtures. We were really impressed that Lifetime finished the project pretty much right on schedule and with absolutely no cost overruns. To make this happen, most days, Lifetime had a team of two to four workers here by 8 a.m., and they worked steadily for the entire day. They also often worked on weekends. After Lifetime finished the addition to the house, we ended up also hiring them to do landscaping for our front yard and replacing our concrete driveway with paver stones. They also did a great job on this, and we are so happy with and amazed by how our house looks now. Remodeling inevitably involves many hard decisions and a lot of time, energy, and money invested by the homeowner! The last thing you need is a contractor who adds unnecessary stress, yet it seemed like everyone I talked to had horror stories about their contractors. We are so grateful that Sam and Lifetime made it a wonderful experience for us.

I asked for three estimates to paint my in-laws mobile home. Big Project came in 30% less than the others and Jose said that the whole place had to be primed unlike the others that would just paint over the existing. I was a little nervous due to him being so low and offering to do so much more than the others, but I went with him. My in-laws are super happy with the work done, as am I. Very professional, willing to work around our schedules, and very affordable. Thank you Big Project Painting, I am definitely keeping your information.

Manuel and his team did an excellent job with painting the interior of our house. They were always punctual, professional and finished the work on time as promised. Their quoted price was very reasonable and the lowest. The price included both labor and paint and yet lower than others. We selected the paint brand too! Highly recommend them. Will gladly use them for future paint needs

Omar was excellent in every way. He turned up each morning before we left for work and stayed all day working on painting our house. He has excellent attention to detail. He kept our property clean and tidy. He even installed our new mailbox and exterior lights. He was pleasant, professional and truly understood what we wanted. His quote was realistic and reasonable. For house painting, Omar is your man!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
