Latest Review: Positive Energy Pilates fixed some big problems that I had when I first came in. My sessions with Shannon over a two month period cured a really bad pinched nerve problem that was keeping me not only from working, but from just using my body in the normal way we take for granted.
This injury, which I had suffered a year ago, had also made me lethargic. The lack of mobility and constant pain took their toll, and I had lost endurance as well.
Shannon’s exercises were ones that I could not have learned alone. As she coached me through them, I learned so much about how I was holding myself. Muscles that had been dormant became active. My alignment improved. I became aware again of my abs in such a way I didn’t remember ever having, in all my years in dance.
Pilates is very active and engaging of a process, and I think that is probably why it works so well. The payoff for me was great, and I am glad I was able to give it a chance and enjoy my ease of motion once again.
What amazes me is that several months after my sessions ended, I still feel great.
Being older, I have had the chance to have studied with many incredibly talented dancers over the last 30+ years. I have taken in a lot of movement practice and theory. I can appreciate that Shannon’s movement background makes her a great teacher and healer and her passion for her work is off the charts! I want to continue to work with her to further strengthen and align. I am out of pain and have recovered from the lethargy but I know that I have the potential, with more Pilates, to get in to incredible shape. I feel that if I keep at it, I could find myself in the best shape of my life.
Her work is an incredible gift. I imagine the people she learned from must have been gifted as well. She knows so many maneuvers and little movements to teach. I feel the ones given to me were very much specifically tailored to my body and my injuries. The equipment used in my sessions was really amazing as well. The machines like “The Reformer” are brilliant inventions for improving your physical well-being and power. It all happens so quick, too.
Dancers and gymnasts will especially like working with Positive Energy Pilates as Shannon is accomplished in both.
