Introduction: I use art as a way to teach people how to access their creative mind. You may have heard talk about a right brain and left brain thinking; I am here to tell you we all have both. Nobody is running around with half of their skull empty.
We expect everyone to learn math and english even when they are more artistic. We should challenge everyone with creative exercise in the same way.
You are as creative as you train yourself to be. Children are really good at it because they don't set limits. So why not encourage them to stay creative?
I work with my students in a very different way, I do not hold up an example of my work and make them copy it, nor do I purchase kits for them to make. As a matter of fact I don't even care if they make a finished product at all.
I introduce a combination of materials each session and I explain how they are to be used and what I get them to do. I then invite the students to try. My greatest joy comes when one or two look up and say "can we do whatever we want"?
Such a request screams to me. There is no intention of a final product, just a child asking if they can explore their own imagination. This is where genious lives, and this is how I teach.
I can come to your home or to your school. I am available to help you reevaluate your current art program. I am also available to adults and corporations who are looking for executive training in creativity and managing creative people.
