Inderpreet is an amazing artist and is also fantastic with the kids! We would highly recommend her to anyone that is considering an art instructor.
Nancy is amazing!! My 10-year old son has taken art classes from her and loves them! He is constantly asking when he can sign up again. I love that Nancy teaches technique but encourages creativity and celebrates uniqueness. She is so kind and sincerely enjoys working with each child. I couldn't ask for a better art teacher for my son.
I have been an adult student of Gloria Leiter at F.A.M.E. for the past 14 years. I have also observed many of her classes with children of all ages so my exposure to the quality of her work is extensive. I am a former educator who has helped train student teachers. Gloria Leiter is the most gifted teacher I have ever seen and it has been a privilege to be in her classes. Her training and credentials in music education are impressive. She understands the educational process and goes beyond the basics. The learning environment in her classroom is warm and positive. She is able to teach a group and yet be personally involved with each student. She is thorough in her presentation of material, making sure that each concept is fully understood by all students. Her ability to pair learning with joy, fun, and excitement provides an atmosphere that children and adults embrace. They are successful starting with the very first lesson and they move forward at a good pace. In order to handle the volume of business, Gloria hires very qualified piano teachers as staff members. She trains them to meet her high standards so there is consistency in the program. Each teacher working for Gloria is passionate about doing the best possible job for the students. In addition to being an outstanding teacher and hiring excellent staff, Gloria uses the best materials available. Her mastery of the Yamaha method is unparalleled and, combined with her talent, makes for an exceptional program. Yamaha has developed a number of courses that meet the needs of different age groups and is conscientious about ongoing review of the curriculum. Yamaha has a great understanding of the potential of children. People are often amazed at how well very young children can play the piano, and how quickly they learn, when they are trained using the Yamaha courses. Those who have not experienced group learning on the piano are in for a treat. The synergy that takes place when students are learning together is compelling and makes group lessons far superior to private lessons. This program is not the program many parents experienced when they were growing up. This is dynamic, enjoyable, and comprehensive. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons in order to see first-hand what is being taught and also to better help their children through the week. Cost effectiveness is always a consideration when one is making a decision about spending. I can guarantee you that investing in music education at F.A.M.E. is well worth the very reasonable cost. Group lessons are not as expensive as private and the overall quality is such that parents more than get their money's worth when they enroll their children at F.A.M.E. F.A.M.E. has been in Contra Costa County for the past 16 years and has served the community well. The school is a great asset to families who want to secure the best music education available for their children. F.A.M.E. is that place! I know--- I am still a student who is learning every day. And it is still loads of fun under the exceptional direction of Gloria Leiter! Shirley
Fantastic art teacher! I can't say enough great things. She's creative and upbeat. Makes you feel like you can accomplish anything. So good with kids- a rare skill. Always keeping up on new trends and techniques. Fun, fun, fun! I'm not an artist, but I always leave her class with something I want to show off to everyone. I remember one class where I was tempted to throw my entire creation in the trash. Completely unhappy with what I had done, but she encouraged me to just keep going and see where the process took me. She has a way of guiding without telling you what to do. Anyway, I wound up with a beautiful framed watercolor that no one can believe I did!
Donna P. Shellooe, aka Ramona Hotel, exceeded my expectations with the thoroughness of her work, her honesty, and her strong work ethic. Having initially hired her for some gardening work, I've found her able and willing to tackle any jobs presented to her.
I learned to crochet at seven. I've been selling my work for nearly fifty years. I teach individual stitches, pattern reading, yarn selection and care, and use of accessories with the goal of the beginning student being able to read a pattern and make a simple piece of their choice after a maximum of three sessions. I teach beginning knitting and afghan crochet with a similar goal, and although I only teach beginning knitting, I teach intermediate crochet skills as well. Polymer clay classes include instruction for conditioning, blending and modeling, and curing polymer clay. As polymer clay colors blend like paint, there is some instruction in color theory. Beginning classes are bead making and progress to work with armatures and mandrels. Wire wrapping instruction familiarizes the student with different metals and gauge measurement, pattern reading and tool usage and grades.

I use art as a way to teach people how to access their creative mind. You may have heard talk about a right brain and left brain thinking; I am here to tell you we all have both. Nobody is running around with half of their skull empty. We expect everyone to learn math and english even when they are more artistic. We should challenge everyone with creative exercise in the same way. You are as creative as you train yourself to be. Children are really good at it because they don't set limits. So why not encourage them to stay creative? I work with my students in a very different way, I do not hold up an example of my work and make them copy it, nor do I purchase kits for them to make. As a matter of fact I don't even care if they make a finished product at all. I introduce a combination of materials each session and I explain how they are to be used and what I get them to do. I then invite the students to try. My greatest joy comes when one or two look up and say "can we do whatever we want"? Such a request screams to me. There is no intention of a final product, just a child asking if they can explore their own imagination. This is where genious lives, and this is how I teach. I can come to your home or to your school. I am available to help you reevaluate your current art program. I am also available to adults and corporations who are looking for executive training in creativity and managing creative people.

You are an artist! I am an artist with a true love to teach and share the good stuff with others especially children! Watercolor, with pen and ink are the mediums I love most. The art of seeing at a deeper, more detailed level is my main emphasis. My classes tend to have themes based on natural history, with the flora and fauna of the world right around us, the plants, fruit trees, flowers, most common weeds, birds, and insects that we live with. I have a love of vast portions of art history, so I include several bits and pieces of technique and influence from specific artists. My students have ranged in ages from 3 to 73. Most have come to my classes with a desire to draw and paint, but with an uncertainty of their own skill level. I have seen time and time again, with the concentration on really seeing a wonderful freedom to begin, to truly render with confidence.
