FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on what you want! Size, number of people or animals in the picture, how complicated the background is, etc. My smallest portraits (5.5x8.5"), with simple or no background and one person or pet, are generally $40. My largest portraits (9x12"), with two people or animals, and a complicated background, would be $175. I'm always willing to go smaller or larger or do something different if what you're looking for is different from my usual!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When someone contacts me for a portrait or illustration, I will ask for details of what they want drawn/painted, and any reference pictures they can provide if there is a specific person, pet, home, or otherwise that they'd like me to draw. Then I get to work! I usually send a picture of my rough pencil sketch for the client's approval before I ink. Once it has been inked and/or colored, it is much more difficult to make changes, so I ask that clients let me know at this point if there is something they would like changed. Once the sketch has been approved, I get to work finishing it up, and contact the client when it is complete, or if there are any delays or other issues.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I actually am almost entirely self-taught as a visual artist!
