These guys did a great job moving our furniture to both a storage unit and to another home. They moved fast and even allowed me to help out in order to save some money. I will be using them again in the near future.

Overall the moving experience was great. Frank was on time and although we had a few hiccups. I moved from Idaho to California and was late arriving. The storage unit also did not have anyone to check us in. Frank did not get frustrated or upset. He even moved a few extra pieces for me at the home I was moving into. my only complaint was there was minor damage to my dining room table and they did not screw my wood bed back together. The screws were lost in the move and I had to go to the hardware store after a long day odf moving and do this myself.

I feel bad that I didn't review Ruben and his team earlier. They were truly an incredible group of people to have doing this move. We weren't entirely prepared for moving everything out, but Ruben and his colleagues were patient and so fast. He even went so far as to recommend which pieces of furniture could use cups so as not to damage the flooring/which rugs should have rug pads placed beneath them. Planning on using SMR for any moving needs I might have in the future.

I hired Garibaldi Moving to move my small office to a new building a few miles away. The entire process was outstanding. The move was easy to set up online and the movers were on time, friendly and professional. They took care not to damage my stuff and worked quickly. Plus, the price was very reasonable. Thanks very much!

Drew and Benny(sp?) called if they can come earlier since they were available. They rolled up in a pick up truck with a huge trailer. It took almost 2 hrs to load, mainly our big items (beds, dressers, mattresses, dining table+chairs, book shelves, and some boxes and storage bins). It took about an hr. to unload. They were professional AND what we love best was their attitude. It made our "stressful" moving time bearable. Thank you so much for your service!! They have THE best deal!! Will definitely hire again, and recommend their moving service.

We just needed a couple big items moved, were moving within Sacramento and did most of it ourselves, had our own moving truck, just needed a couple extra hands. Easy Pro responded asap, showed up within the hour, helped us load and unload the heavy items, everything went smoothly. Would definitely work with them again.

Do not hesitate to call G B Construction for gutter cleaning and replacement and leaf guards. They are prompt, quick, thorough, friendly and professional. Their charges are reasonable, and they do not upsell. I understand that they also do tile and wood floors, painting and household moving. I will be using them again and again.

They were so completely wonderful and professional. They met me at IKEA to get my cumbersome bed. They assembled part of it at their location and then showed up the next day to put together the pre-assembled pieces. That made it really convenient for me in my small house and kept it quiet as well. They were so friendly, kept to their times we had established, and professional every step of the way. I look forward to using them for other building/handyman/etc tasks at both my home and my business. Highly recommended!

I hired Pat for a move from Fontana, CA to Berkeley, CA. He was incredibly kind and professional from the very beginning. His rate was significantly lower than anyone else. About a week before my move Pat was even able to lower my rate more because he found another customer moving to the same area so he could combine the moves making it cheaper for me. Not only did Pat exceed my expectations financially but he really went above and beyond his duties! I couldn't be present for the move because I had to go out of state for job training so I had to trust him completely to pick up my belongings from Fontana and deliver it all to Berkeley without my supervision. I didn't have the apartment keys to where I was moving in Berkeley so Pat even picked up the keys for me from the rental company and made sure they were delivered to me. I arrived in Berkeley from training an entire month after the move actually took place. I entered my apartment to find my bed already set up by Pat and my boxes organized. Nothing was broken ether which is something that always seems to happen when I hire movers. I have never even met Pat in person because I had to leave for training. I was only able to correspond with him through email and phone calls. For this reason I can say he is extremely trustworthy and I trusted him with all of my belongings. If you need to move then definitely hire Pat. I have moved a lot and I have never had a better moving experience.

After cleaning my garage I found myself with a large amount of junk that I didn’t want to wait for a bulk pickup from Waste Management so I sought out help on Thumbtack. That’s where I found Chris who was able to come and remove everything and take it to the dump for me the same day (actually was at my home in less than an hour). Chris was punctual, fast, professional and reasonably priced. He actually followed up with the dump receipt to assure me of this. Great service, would definitely use again and recommend.

Duane came to my home and moved a new dryer into my wash room. But first he had to install and connect the propane line. He was very efficient, cleaned up after himself and test it to make sure there was no leak. I will call him again for help on other projects I have around my home,

This group of guys are AMAZING!!! I hired them to move my warehouse, I myself had thought that it would take a crew of 10 men two days to complete. I was wrong. It ONLY took 5 men 1 day to complete the job! I was completely shocked at how well they work. Everything went perfect, they worked hard, they were respectful. I will use this company for all my moving needs and recommend them to all my family and friends.

Cherish Moving did a fantastic job moving our things without incident. We had a long distance move so were hesitant to use them instead of a national moving company. This was much better! They were on time and the move out/move in job went well. They are fully certified and insured and we will definitely use them again. Emily and Sergio were fantastic to work with, very responsive and helped us out with everything. I recommend them for either an interstate or intrastate move!

Paul and Katelyn managed all of our requirements with timely responses and quality service, at a price far better than the other quotes we received. They even dealt with an unexpected snowstorm without missing their delivery time. We would highly recommend Paul and his company for any long distance move.

I know when looking for a service or help online, it can be somewhat overwhelming and impersonal... And with that in mind I would like to ask for your attention for a brief moment. If you are looking for some good help and are asking for a fair bid and that is something you will find with these guys. I did. What I also received was individuals who listened to my needs and did not hesitate to deliver everything I was needing and wanting accomplished. I had bought my first home and needed help with so many issues: from flooring, to painting, to yard work, to tree removal and fence repair. And I also needed it done fast. Kenny and John were great. They were able to do each job with skill and the bid was more than fair. What set them apart from other companies I interviewed and have worked with in the past was their passion for the job and their quality in the completion. I love my home and the resale value has appreciated more than I had ever imagined! I can't thank you both enough and know that you have an account with me as long as you are able to work. You are the 'Captains who made it happen!'

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
