I have been taking drum lessons from Steve Trovao for about a year and a half now. And am having the time of my life, I have seen Steve teach students as young as three and as old as me, Im 52. He is a versatile teacher in that he adapts to every students needs and has amazing patience. I have been learning the blues, and have seen Steve at many venues from rock, blues, jazz, swing, reggae and many more styles, in which he uses in his teaching. I am looking forward to continuing my education with Steve.
Kevin has helped me grow from not knowing how to play drums at all, to being able to play in a rock and roll band and knowing how to lead a band on drums. He has taught me technique and tools for creativity in my art. He is very patient and laid back.
Thanks for the drum lessons i really understood your teaching and looking forword to more lessons, thanks greg.
Firstly, Thumbtack was exceedingly easy to use and it helped me get just the service that I was looking for. Brett King Cosby is not only very talented, but also a kind person who is a delight to have as a teacher and guest in my home. I was very fortunate to find him. Brett is an experienced drummer who has played with many a well-known Bay Area musician and he continues to gig regularly. My 16 and 13 year old sons are already instrumentalists. (They play tenor/bari sax and trumpet respectively. My older boy also takes piano lessons.) Their choice of music is jazz and they both wanted to learn the drum kit in order to round out their instrument knowledge/experience. My boys do a combined lesson with him weekly. Brett comes to the house and always takes extra time with them. My sons are good at their own instruments and have worked with many teachers, so they know what they are looking for in a teacher and they know if an instructor really knows what s/he is doing. They have nothing but glowing comments about Brett's temperament, music knowledge, familiarity with local musicians, and teaching ability. The three of them have such a good time and my kids learn a lot from him. I catch myself racing home from work just so that I can get a chance to hear Brett teach--it is such a joy. When asked, my older son commented that Brett is well-organized and does not skip steps. Brett makes sure that students learn the fundamentals of playing in order to give novice drummers the foundation that they need. My son really appreciates this. I highly recommend Brett King Cosby for his kind temperament & teaching ability, music knowledge, and flexibility with lesson scheduling.
My son started drum lessons with Larry yesterday and he is so happy! Larry is a great drummer and a great teacher! HE was also very responsive when I initially contacted him and we had the lesson started the very next day! He even helped me by bringing a drum set my son could try out ..I highly recommend Larry

"I have been taking weekly drum lessons from Scott for over a year and started as a beginner. Scott is a fabulous teacher! In addition to being an accomplished musician, Scott is extremely patient, encouraging, professional, and helpful. He's a great listener and very good at explaining things. He breaks everything down to its simplest form to ensure that you understand something before progressing to the next step. With Scott, you can be sure that you are learning everything the "correct" way and that he won't let you take short cuts for the sake of "progress". He wants to make sure that his students learn things correctly early on so that bad habits do not form and turn into problems later. I really appreciate that as a student. Scott is always very organized, thoughtful, and ready for you when you arrive for your lesson. In addition to learning proper technique, learning to read drum music, and playing the drums during each lesson, Scott also teaches musicality and offers opportunities to apply what is learned in live music playing with other musicians. I highly recommend Scott to anyone at any age who is interested in learning to play the drums. You will be in very good hands!" - Ana B
So far, Lelia was great for the first few drum lessons. We're looking toward for upcoming lessons with her. My son seems to enjoy his first drum lesson with Lelia. I hope Lelia can continue to inspire him to enjoy music and to play drum.
I'll go the extra mile and stretch beyond necessity to make sure my students understand all lesson material and to help them reach their full potential
He is a wonderful teacher -- patient, knowledgeable, and flexible. I cannot wait for more lessons and highly recommend him as a drum instructor!
Thanks Nate for the excellent lessons! Eric learned so much and was extremely confident transferring what he learned to his classroom band sessions. I chose Nate over Watermelon music because I wanted my son to be comfortable and have fun while learning. All of my son's 7th grade teachers are young, dynamic, engaging, and excited about teaching. Nate was exactly what I was searching for. He is extremely professional, knows his music, and is passionate about his teaching. I sincerely recommend him! Thanks again Nate!

I teach introduction to the drum kit and how to unlock the power of drumming. I teach all students the basics of reading drum music because its a must have savings account of never ending drum beats and patterens that one can flavor with their own personality. Also i teach the basics of how to tune the drums because if the drums sound sour it dosent matter how well you can play, the drummer is also part of the sourerness, in our studies we will cover the basic drum rudiments wich are required by most drum & bugle corps, marching bands, school bands, college stage bands ect, ect, the drum rudiments are very essentental to balance playing , (the left hand challenges the right hand) in the end they should come out 100% equal in performance. Every student or client will be equiped with these basic beats jazz, gospel, rock&roll, blues and r&b, country, funk, my instruction success is 100%. I was also Awarded and Voted for as the Best Blues Drummer U.S.A. two (2) yrs in a row by Westcoast Blues Review Magazine. I also teach percussion including, congas, bongoes bells, blocks, bar chimes etc!
My name is Mickey Martin, and I'm a Woodland based musician with many years of drumming experience. I teach at all levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced, children and adults. I teach most any style, rock (new or retro), jazz, big band/swing, surf, pop, reggae, funk, Latin, country and western, etc. My emphasis is on technique (grip, stroke, and posture), rudimental exercise (sticking patterns), reading skills and performance, whether applied to drum set or snare drum (especially useful for school or marching band). After seeing The Beatles on TV as a kid, I knew I wanted to be a drummer. My older brothers were already in bands in the '60s, as backup for Sonny and Cher as well as their own records as "Thomas and Richard Frost," playing with artists like Lydia Pense, The Count 5, Grass Roots, Chocolate Watchband and many others. I studied for 3 years with world-famous musician-producer Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celene Dion, Aretha Franklin, Mahavishnu Orchestra and others) and for 10 years with Mike Curotto in the SF Bay Area. Most recently, I taught drums at Guitar Center Studios in San Mateo, CA, for 3 years. I play guitar and bass as well, which helps when performing in group situations. However, drums are my love! I've played hundreds of gigs in all genres and situations, sharing the stage with artists like The Tubes, Y&T, Chris Issak, The Doobie Brothers, Jackson Browne, The Turtles, Buddy Miles, Joe Satriani, Jerry Lee Lewis, Super Diamond, John McLaughlin, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Tony Williams and many others. Some of my favorite drummers and influences are John Bonham, Keith Moon, Tony Williams, Bill Bruford, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Narada Michael Walden, Steve Gadd, Airto, Cindy Blackman, Johny Barbata, Dino Danelli, Vinnie Coliuta, Dennis Chambers and so many more! I'm currently in the group "Powder," a '60s Brit pop-influenced band, playing extensively in the SF Bay Area and Northeast Portland/Seattle area, with gigs in London and Spain as well. I believe in the physical aspect of drumming as well as spiritual (think drum yoga) to bring out the best of your abilities and develop skills. However, the point of all this hard work and practice is to have fun because drumming is fun! So, no matter if you are just starting out, need some help with school band, an adult brushing up on his chops, or just want to have fun, I can help! I teach out of my home in Woodland but am available to teach at your location within 15 miles, including Davis, Dixon, West Sac or Vacaville. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
